I've sold 20% in $NEAR at $2.80 and I don't hate it. Despite the fact that the sentiment is absolutely fantastic on NEAR and I'm super bullish on the asset, I decided to sell a portion today. The reason for it is relatively simple and I'll explain everything in this tweet, including my next steps with the portion. First and foremost, I've bought all of my $NEAR between $1.10-1.25. I've sold the first portion at $2.20 (30%). Today, I've sold another 20% at $2.80. That's a solid 170% run on that trade. Despite the fact that I've been selling some percentages of the portfolio, NEAR remains to be my biggest position in the portfolio. The best part: the portfolio is up from -75% to, now, -45% and we've barely started to see some upwards momentum on the altcoin markets. I've stated in my earlier post that this region would be a region for me to be selling a percentage of my position and that's what I did. What did I do with the portion that I've sold? I've sold 20% of my position, which generated $6,651. Then: - I've bought $3,500 in $SEI at $0.063. - I've bought $2,000 in $W at $0.0125. - I've kept $1,151 in USDC to hedge the risk slightly and to be able to be buying the dip on NEAR (if there's any) or use for other opportunities. Very simple; - I don't see the conviction yet in Optimism. I do think that the Ethereum ecosystem is one to go for in due time, although I think that other L1's are going to see more momentum earlier. - EIGEN has started to run away after my last purchase. - From a technical standpoint, SEI looks great for upside here. Why do you decide to sell a portion of your NEAR trade? As I said, I'm not selling because I don't believe in the project. I'm extremely bullish on this one. Doesn't mean that I'm going to hold it to infinity. It's seen a tremendous run and I think there's more upside to come in the long run. However, in the short-term, the upside might be skewed. Skewed = It can run another 10-30% and hit a higher timeframe resistance, but in all reality, the sigma deviations from the 21-MA on all of the timeframes, combined with the RSI levels on the 1D and 3D means that it's getting slightly overstretched. That means: what is liquidity going to do when they take profit? Exactly, they'll rotate towards other assets within the ecosystem as this is the strongest signal for a potential altcoin summer we've seen in a long time. In that way, what's the upside going to be for NEAR when it's already in peak sentiment? I don't think it's going to be much, and if it's much, sure, I'll take more of the table. Other than that, if it goes another 20-30%, I'd be very happy and will be taking of some more from the table. Now, if the technical price action of NEAR is the first runner of the rest of the markets, then there are many altcoins out there still ready to be following the path of NEAR and to be generating a 2-5x from here. That return is significantly higher than the return that I can make on NEAR in the short-term, that's why I decided to sell a portion. Conclusively, the allocation, without selling the portion, would have been 50%+. Conviction is fine, but having such a big position in a trade is slightly too much when it's this overextended. Time to scale it off. Time to rotate. Time to compound with the other trades!
