The sandwiches offered in the quarantine hotel, “vegetables” 1 lettuce, 1 slice of cucumber, tomatoes and cheese and tuna. The salad, just lettuce and “crispy chicken”. That’s it for lunch, no fruit, nothing else. @PHE_uk @BBCNews @BBCBreakfast @10DowningStreet @SandmanHotelsUK

For most, travel = ill health, death, children, getting stuck as borders close, losing flights, jobs, custody, immigration, change of circumstances. As if anybody would do this for fun. FFS.

@lisataljard @ukhomeoffice @UKHomeSecretary @Marriott I have no sympathy. Those are the rules, nobody has forced them to travel and they knew what they were signing up for. Frankly, if we were taking quarantine more seriously we might not now be heading into a third wave and all the damage that's going to cause.

Thread: So @ukhomeoffice @UKHomeSecretary - thought you might like to hear this. An 80-year-old UK citizen (my dad) is on day 6 of a hotel quarantine stay at the Courtyard @Marriott at Gatwick: cost £2400. Both him and my mom have been vaccinated. Two negative Covid tests. /1
