I believe it is the wrong time for the Federal Government to increase the examination fees for WAEC and NECO, especially considering that Nigeria already has one of the highest numbers of out-of-school children in the world—estimated at about 18.3 million. Rather than making secondary school examinations more affordable, or even working towards making them free, increasing the fees to around ₦50,000 could make it even harder for many families to keep their children in school. This may further contribute to the out-of-school crisis if the financial burden becomes too great for parents. At a time when government spending on various projects and public activities is under public scrutiny, many Nigerians believe that greater priority should be given to education. Investing in education is an investment in the future of our country. Our children deserve classrooms, not the streets. They deserve opportunities, not barriers. This is a call for greater accountability and for more attention to be given to strengthening Nigeria’s educational system. Education should be seen as a national priority because the future of every nation depends on the quality of education it provides to its children. Justice can never be cracked.

The system has made us so cynical that we treat every cry for help like a scam pitch. But stories like this show why we can't afford to lose our humanity. That fruit seller witnessing and validating his struggle is what community is about. If you can help, help without overthinking the script. You never know whose entire world you're holding up with a single note. 💯

I was buying fruits this evening when one small boy tapped me and said, “Oga, abeg borrow me ₦300 make I buy bread for my sister. We never chop since morning.” I almost ignored him because Abuja is full of stories. But something made me stop. I gave him ₦1,000 instead. As I was about leaving, the woman selling fruits called me back and said………………

Why doeth thou speaketh of what thou knoweth not? What you think does not matter. Biology doesn't care about your feelings. I can categorically tell you that MEN ARE POLYGAMOUS BY NATURE. Look at any of the great apes and tell me which of them is monogamous. In chimpanzees, the dominant males mate with multiple females. In fact, these females court them because they want to have their children for males with good genes. The same goes for gorillas. Even orangutans that are not that social follow the same trend. Even bonobos that are female-centered follow the same trend. The only difference is that their females engage in female-female rubbing and other "promiscuities"
Oluwatobiloba@Tobielobba

I think the idea that men are naturally polygamous is more a product of social conditioning than biology. Personally, I don’t believe anyone is inherently polygamous. I think it’s a matter of discipline. When people talk about sex and infidelity, they often act as though men are naturally more likely to cheat. But women have sexual desires too. The difference isn’t desire, it’s the choices people make and the values they’ve been conditioned to uphold. The argument that men are naturally polygamous often comes from the belief that a man can have multiple wives or partners and society will accept it. But I sometimes wonder if the conversation would be different if men experienced the same physical consequences women do. If men could get pregnant and go through childbirth, many of them would probably think more carefully before cheating because the risks would be more immediate and personal. When it comes to sexual health, women are also generally more vulnerable to the consequences of sexually transmitted infections. Many women are more cautious because their health, their bodies, and often their reputation are on the line in ways society doesn’t always impose on men. At the end of the day, I don’t see infidelity as proof that someone is naturally polygamous. I see it as a lack of discipline. If you’ve made up your mind not to cheat, then you won’t.

It was 2016. Everywhere you went, people were talking about MMM. The barber. Church. Office. Even the bus conductor seemed to know someone who had doubled their money. I told myself, "If it's so easy, why isn't everyone rich already?" So I stayed away. Then my closest friend withdrew over ₦400,000. He showed me the alert. Bought everyone lunch. Laughed at me for "thinking too much." That's when doubt crept in. I invested ₦10,000. A few days later, I got back ₦15,000. That was all the proof my brain needed. I wasn't thinking anymore. I was believing. I emptied almost all my savings into it. A week later... "System is frozen." "Please remain calm." "Participants should exercise patience." Those messages aged me five years in one weekend. I refreshed that website so many times I could've worn out the browser. The money never came back. Looking back, I didn't lose my savings because I was greedy. I lost them because seeing everyone else "winning" made caution feel like foolishness. That's the most expensive lesson Fear of Missing Out ever taught me.

This account was opened in 2017 in the US. Guess what I was doing there then. I was sourcing clothes for my boutique business. Do I still run the boutique today? No. If I told you how much I lost during Covid and the amount of business loans I had to pay back, you wouldn't understand. Small businesses are not easy at all, and if you have one and are still pushing, I applaud you.
