@MikeMcDanielSI I guess (if the trade had went through) they felt Giannis would’ve been worth the money but JB isn’t. Which aligns with your thoughts on JB not being top 10. I also could’ve understood that trade a lot more. Just didn’t work out that way for the Celtics.

@MikeMcDanielSI Agreed - I haven’t heard narratives like that before - for a recent Finals MVP. I was also a bit confused because they (Owner and Brad) said it wasn’t about the money but then it sounds like it kind of was.

@QueensFinestJB Yeah I think that combined with his salary and his $140m extension that he’s eligible for at the end of the month probably scared some teams away. I think the narratives during trade talks got way out of hand. He was a finals MVP two years ago.

I love him. I’m really bummed the Celtics traded him and he just had the best year of his career where he could certainly be argued as a top 10 guy. I just think he’s closer to top 15 year over year than top 10. No particular order but: SGA, Jokic, Wemby, Luka, healthy Tatum, Edwards, Brunson, Giannis, Cade, Towns, Maxey, Mitchell are all guys who I’d put over him. Maybe Curry. I do think on-ball defense is a strength, I think he’s a little lax as a defender off the ball. But not many guys who I’d take offensively mid-range. I also think he impacts the game defensively better than some guys above, who may have a more consistent offensive game than he does. Not a perfect list but that was off top of my head. What do you think?

@MikeMcDanielSI Solid list - I would be ok switching Edwards and JB. I do think JB is a bit undervalued. He’s never had the opportunity to be the #1 guy until this year and he did great and was #4 in scoring (reg season), #8 in the post season.

I know the return on the JB trade wasn’t outstanding, but his large salary had a lot to do with it. He’s making a top seven salary as a top 15-20 player.

@96wvhokie @vick757 And also Id like to point out he inherited Franks talent and influence which he carried that momentum at first. The further he got away from Franks vision, talent, and messaging the stinkier he got as a coach and motivator. And thats when he cried about money.

@96wvhokie @vick757 He was as bad as we like to remember. His Xs and Os were better than Pry but he wasn't no wizard. It got to a point where FCS games and G5 games looked and felt like toss up games.

I’ve said this many times, when you speak to football guys including a ton of former players, the issue with Fuente was mainly about football decisions and management of personnel. The Liberty game Timeout; the 3 QB system against Duke at home which made no sense; the lack of identity on offense; the mysterious benching of Hooker for no apparent reason the following season.
