@QueensburySOS

We lost the building and won a pub. Only time will tell if The Queensbury is replaced. Here's hoping.

We are hosting a community meeting about the B&Q site. 26 Feb 7-8:30PM Ivy Room @claytoncrown This won't be a debate with Montreaux or Barnet Council. It's for people who live in Cricklewood so we can talk together about how we respond to this large planning application

This campaign has been a success. We've a replacement pub. We do not have a tower block. We've a community space in that replacement. We have interim safeguards meaning continuity for the community. All that remains is for @Brent_Council to ensure all of the above happens. (3/4)

@WillGreenRA The building has beautiful original @thevicsoc features & tiling. @WillGreenRA would you consider applying to get building added to @Brent_Council local list to protect from demolition? Willesden Green High Street has some beautiful Victorian buildings that should be preserved!

Willesden only recieves up to 15% of CIL because it has no Plan. Spent mainly on trees by the looks of it. With a neighbourhood plan it would rise to 25%. So the CIL paid in @TheQueensbury as part of the deal made with @Brent_Council goes to initiatives in Wembley.
Martin Francis@WembleyMatters

@HarlesdenOrg @Brent_Council Because @Brent_Council say it is the area most impacted by developments. Share has actually been reduced from 83% See wembleymatters.blogspot.com/2019/01/wemble…

@SouthwarkGP @WembleyMatters A common accusation against local authorities. Are the financial benefits for the council (of agreeing developments by developers) influencing planning decisions? Discuss.

We've heard from our community members that the two further appeals on @TheQueensbury have been withdrawn. We didn't hear this from @PINSgov nor from @Brent_Council Charming. Least that means we have certainty about what should happen next.

@JustsomeguyJohn No, initially built in 1895 as a doctor's house (surgery as now known) then a Constitutional Club from around 1912. Used more lately (1960s?) as a Conservative Club with function room upstairs. The billiards room then let as The Inn on The Green, more lately as @TheQueensbury

Short term opportunistic greed has led to the loss of a building that survived two World Wars. Flats that had to be tweaked so as to meet bare minimum size standards, missing targets of Affordable housing also. At least we didn't get The Tower.

@alison_moulds Too many people looking to make a cent, too few wanting to foster community. A smaller scheme was possible but wouldn't deliver the developer's 20% margin. Willesden lacks a plan. Council lacks expertise. Developers are exploiting both.

So sad to hear our beautiful local is set to be demolished & replaced with block of 48 flats. Housing badly needed but this site is way too tiny for that & decision lands a big blow to lovely community feel created here. A sad loss after a wonderful campaign by @QueensburySOS.

Very sorry to read this. Losing The Queensbury will be a massive loss to our community. Sincere thanks to @QueensburySOS for running a powerful local campaign for many years.

Dithering is the understatement of the century. Disingenuous nonsense from the Brent PR team. The government Inspector noted the lack up preparation. Those are the facts. Award Winning Brent Planners painted themselves into a corner and we have to live with their incompetence.

Thank you everyone for your support. A campaign to be proud of. Unfortunately the council did not support us. They voted to demolish the Goldsmiths Arms
