I completely agree. People in rural and mountainous areas are the ones who lose out the most. Reliable internet shouldn't depend on whether you're close to a cell tower or fibre line. Starlink had the potential to fill that gap, and hopefully a solution can still be found that puts consumers first rather than protecting existing providers.

It’s abundantly clear South Africa has discriminated against and prohibited Starlink solely because @elonmusk is the CEO of the company. Starlink is by far the superior product.

What? Do you think they'll have their mobile services drop in income? They can't compete nor side with Starlink. Easiest was to ban it. May Starlink NEVER partner with them. Fibre optic services are expensive for ordinary people as it is. And damaged every time when Municipalities repair OLD, leaking water pipes, using a excavator. One loose signal from cell towers when travelling in mountainous areas. Starlink would have helped so many people in these areas.
