Lets be clear about the government shutdown. It wasn't a vote where the majority wins to pass a continuing resolution. It wasn't a vote on a spending bill.

It was a vote to overturn a Democrat filibuster to block the bringing of the Continuing Resolution (a spending bill) to the floor to be voted on. To overturn a filibuster you need 60 votes. It is a special way to block voting on bills in the Senate.

The Democrats own this. Even if every single Republican voted to overturn the filibuster (there are two against and one democrat for it), it cannot be brought to the floor for a vote.

I'm not defending the way Bondi handled the PR on Epstein, as it was abysmal, but please keep this in mind: The DOJ has been handling all of the Democrat judge-shopping lawfare with absolute skill and precision, masterfully defending Trump's policies while giving the Dems and the rogue judges just enough rope to hang themselves with stupidity. Bondi deserves much credit for this, so I am not eager to see her fired.

This is the problem with people who complain that guys like Massie “don’t do anything.” Do you want him to just pass laws for the fun of it? Do you think that’s the problem with Congress — that they don’t pass enough laws? No, the problem is that they pass bad laws and the good laws we do have on the books aren’t enforced. “More laws” is very rarely the solution to any problem. More enforcement often is.

@balajis Sounds reasonable in theory however, develop an idea, create an innovative product, and produce a product that sells well. Within months this product will begin to be sold on Amazon however it isn't your company selling it. It is a faux product coming from China sold cheaper.

(4) Fourth, MAGA sees the billions of dollars flowing from the US to foreign recipients, but isn't grasping that the US can only print those dollars in the first place so long as it's the hub of a global empire. When you put these together you can both understand MAGA's actions and understand why they will not lead to the intended result. Basically: MAGA is hyperfocused on cutting off any apparent flow of funds from Red Americans to Blue Americans and non-Americans. And they only have ~500 days in power. So they're trying to quickly shut off imports, close down institutions, and exit all wars. OK. Except the reason the imports exist in the first place is because US products aren't competitive relative to Chinese products (or Fed printing). The reason those institutions exist is because the US set them up to run the world. And the reason those wars are happening is not because of American leadership per se, but because of the absence of good leadership. If you shut all of that down at once — if you abandon global competition and global leadership — you shut down American Empire, and with it the ability to print money. And then everyone in that empire has a very bad time.
