Ross Gittins nails it on Australian gas exports and Australians not getting our fair share. If there is no 25% gas export tax in the Federal budget in May, we’ll know the PM is “prepared to put keeping big foreign-owned businesses happy ahead of the national interest.” smh.com.au/politics/feder…

Bowen claims: “Renewable energy is shielding us from the worst impacts of this war in the Middle East. Our sun and wind are sovereign, they're not impacted by wars overseas.” Wrong. Imported diesel/petrol & low stocks are powering farms, trucks & mining. Renewables don’t fuel utes or supply chains. You can’t eat sunbeams. Pure political spin from this moron!

@TheAusInstitute Why do the politicians who want fossil fuels banned, want to tax gas out of existence? Not to raise more revenue for Australia, that's for sure

The Coalition’s plan to reintroduce a 2026 version of the white Australia immigration policy shows they have been captured by extremists. Angus Taylor’s attack on Palestinian refugees from Gaza just confirms it.

@BibasKfir Garbage take. I know plenty of incredibly capable officers from non-combat backgrounds. Trigger time does not a top-tier officer make. Eisenhower and Bradley would like a word.

MASSIVE : Trump gets huge SHOCK from Australian PM Anthony Albanese 🔥 🇺🇸 Trump at 8:00 –– "We have allies who will help the US Navy blockade the Strait of Hormuz by sending their warships" 🇦🇺 Albanese at 11:00 –– "Australia won't join US naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz because we need peace that lasts. And we need stable fuel prices. We don't need wars" 🫡 Trump getting isolated by his loyal allies is something no one saw it coming

@BrentyMann What it highlighted is, how important Nank is to Tigers. He is the hub in the wheel. Without a competent backup ruckman the Tigers and their young cubs are all at sea. He was always the one we could ill afford to lose

Cool heads and calm minds are needed in times like this; we've turned this ship around before and I firmly believe we can do it again. The shining light is that our young core is learning to be resilient and is being exposed to the reality of senior football. #TalkingTigers

@TheAusInstitute How can it be explained, that everyone who hates gas and wants it banned, is on the inquiry into gas tax. One explanation is, they want it taxed to destruction. These people want less money from gas and want it banned.

@larissawaters Larissa, nobody is stopping you, giving your money to the NDIS recipients. But the NDIS has all the hallmarks of a major fraud scheme. Everybody has heard stories. If you’re taking taxpayer money, to run the NDIS, then it should be above reproach.

Right now, Labor is gearing up to rip funding from the NDIS in the upcoming budget. There's always money for war but right when people are doing it the toughest, the NDIS and the people it supports are facing cuts.

The Government is blowing $20 million on an ad campaign to “combat misinformation” by telling drivers to inflate their tyres and remove their roof racks to save fuel. This is how they’re spending taxpayer money during a cost-of-living crisis? 🤯👇🏽

@allenanalysis It’s not a rebuke. It’s a factual statement. But it’s a motherhood statement. And Iran doesn’t want to play ball . So negotiated settlement impossible, unless Iran changes its mind

Australia just said no. Britain said no. Australia said no. America’s two closest Five Eyes allies — the countries that have followed Washington into every military engagement for 80 years — just publicly refused to join the Strait of Hormuz blockade. Australia’s statement didn’t just decline. It delivered a verdict: “The best way to get lasting peace — and to ensure petrol prices come down for Australians — is a negotiated settlement.” That is a direct rebuke of Trump’s blockade strategy from an allied government.

I don’t think Republicans recognize what they’ve done; our allies who have stood by us for ~80 years revile us. They may never appreciate the gravity of what they’ve done, but this is a paradigm shift. The era of a united west led by the US is dead, and we’re all worse off.

I've been pretty patient with Yze so far But if we see another game of Hopper/Prestia 80% CBAs, it's fair to question whether he is the right coach for this rebuild. We aren't exposing kids. Give them bigger roles, see what they are made of. We're shit regardless 🤣

NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE: - The IRGC delegation just landed in Pakistan (literally as I write this). These are the people that call the shots behind the scenes, the ones that matter (and the ones Israel would love to assassinate😂). This shows the negotiations are going very well - The U.S. and Pakistan met face to face a couple of hours, no longer just through a mediator - Israeli bombardment of Beirut has stopped - U.S. reportedly clearing mines from the Strait of Hormuz - A report came out that Iranians are pleasantly surprised by America's willingness to listen - Trump is conducting a victory lap, celebrating the war's outcomes, meaning he's made up his mind that the war has ended and is trying to twist the results into a win in the eyes of the American voter In other words, negotiations are going well, and it seems Trump is committed to ending this war, forcing Netanyahu to do so as well The main sticking point: The Strait of Hormuz. Iran wants a toll, the U.S. objects My guess is the U.S. folds, allowing a temporary Iranian toll (or another structure) to allow them to collect reparations for war damages Will Trump get a piece like he wants? Who knows anymore 😂 But for Iran, just the fact they are meeting with the U.S. Vice President (first time ever since the 1979 revolution), and the fact they're even talking about a toll system, demonstrates what I've said for months: They won this war Let's see if that changes, as the negotiations are early Note: I've predicted the war was ending at the start of the month, predicted a ceasefire once Trump's crazy posts happened, was the first to break the news of a ceasefire 48 minutes before it was reported, and predicted the ceasefire will extend to Lebanon However now I'm really struggling to make any predictions, beyond the ceasefire holding on all fronts. I'm worried Lebanon's ceasefire could be the same as before the Iran war (i.e. in theory only), and that an emboldened Iran could continue it's proxy foreign policy, leading to ongoing instability in the region. I do hope, and think there's a very good possibility, that we see a New Iran after these negotiations, one that starts doing business with the U.S. (gradually) and even possibly dismantles its proxy network, in return for American concessions including the lifting of all sanctions. I really think Trump can actually pull this off.

Disgusted that the AFP chose to make the arrest of Robert’s-Smith a PR exercise in public humiliation. He offered to hand himself in, but they opted to ambush him in public, in front of his kids & before the media. And we are supposed to respect such organisations?

@macsween_prue The AFP appears to be trying hard to influence the verdict. Unnecessary perp walks and video from restricted zones humiliating the defendant is part of the process. If only he was a machete wielder from Melbourne, his treatment would be vastly different
