We were proud to participate in today’s Africa Resilience Dialogues Webinar on #COP30 and Africa: From Outcomes to Action. Convened under the #Africa4Resilience platform, the discussion brought together key voices to unpack critical priorities for the continent: - Advancing the Global Goal on Adaptation - Driving a Just Transition in Africa’s context - Scaling up and delivering adaptation finance As the Pan African Climate Justice Alliance (#PACJA), we contributed to the dialogue by emphasizing the urgency of people-centered climate action, equitable finance, and ensuring African voices shape global climate decisions. The conversation reaffirmed that moving from commitments to implementation is critical—and Africa must be at the center of that transition. #ClimateJustice #Adaptation #JustTransition #AfricaCOP

Africa’s climate future must be shaped by strategy, not just statements! At today’s high-level dialogue, Nana Dr. Antwi-Boasiako Amoah, Chair of the Africa Group of Negotiators (AGN), emphasized on a critical shift: climate diplomacy is no longer only about emissions or long-term ambition, it is now deeply tied to geopolitics, energy security, industrial competition, and finance. As Africa prepares for #COP31 and #COP32, the message is clear: We must place climate finance, energy sovereignty, and industrialization at the center of our agenda or risk outcomes that appear progressive on paper but fail our people in practice. “If our climate diplomacy is not aligned with our energy needs, industrial ambitions, and development realities, we risk negotiating outcomes that look progressive on paper—but are difficult to implement.” The Chair raised urgent reflections for the continent: 🔹 Where does Africa still hold leverage in a fragmented global system? 🔹 How do we ensure climate action supports not constrains economic transformation? 🔹 How do we move from common positions to common strategies across climate, energy, finance, and industrial policy? Africa has been a powerful voice in negotiation rooms, but the real test lies in implementation, coherence, and unity beyond the text. As global dynamics evolve rapidly, Africa must act faster, think strategically, and negotiate from a position rooted in development justice and transformation. #ClimateJustice #AfricaCOP #AGN #ClimateFinance #EnergyTransition

Now back home after two weeks of intensive work in Belém during the Climate Change negotiations conference. Full expectations were not met but at least something positive so far. Still a long way to go. Thanks to all those who attended in person and online our Side events.

English Below. @Presidence_RDC @kayikwambaT @UNFCCC @US_SrAdvisorAF @bundeskanzler @Allemagne_RDC English: As arrived in Belem for the Climate Change Negotiations, @Cop30noBrasil , I had the opportunity of having a long discussion of Her Excellency Mme Nyange Ndambo, the Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development. We discussed about 2 major topics including the program of Capacity Building of the Public and Private sector on Carbon credit and Climate Economy, and the long-term project of establishing the Regional Research Centre on Carbon credit and Climate economics as we head to the JUST TRANSITION pathway. The Second program we discussed was to request for all United Nations Member states to accept and adopt my policy proposal on Critical and transitional Minerals to including 1% on every final product manufactured linked to Transitional and critical minerals for energy transition. This one percent tax aim to support communities from countries where these minerals are extracted. As matter of fact, communities from countries where these very important minerals are extracted have remained the poorest communities in the world. For more information about this Policy proposal, reach out to me at: zagabe@rccrdc.org Pour plus d'informations sur cette proposition de politique, veuillez me contacter à l'adresse suivante : zagabe@rccrdc.org

The global green transition cannot be just if those who supply its minerals remain in poverty. In Kinshasa, the Réseau sur le Changement Climatique de la RDC (RCC-RDC) — a partner in the Climate and Economic Justice Campaign, in which PACJA also participates — mobilized hundreds of citizens demanding a 1% global tax on products containing strategic minerals such as cobalt, lithium, and copper. Their call aims to redirect a portion of global profits toward: ✅ Community compensation and ecosystem restoration ✅ Stronger mining governance and transparency ✅ Financing Africa’s own energy transition PACJA joins partners across Africa in reaffirming a shared message ahead of COP30: The energy transition must not reproduce the injustices of extraction — it must correct them. #PACJA #ClimateJustice #EconomicJustice #JustTransition #ResponsibleMining #AfricaAtTheTable #COP30
