#OTD in 1805, Mary Seacole was born. Mary nursed British soldiers at the height of the cholera and yellow fever epidemics. During The Crimean War she funded her journey to the frontlines where she bravely nursed the wounded and gained the sobriquet ‘Mother Seacole’.
