I'm struck by how quiet Ottawa patios have been this spring. Normally by now, even with cooler weather, the patios in the Byward Market and Elgin street would be packed. This was a popular outdoor patio on a Saturday evening in the market that too during a race weekend.

This is a body blow for people planning to settle in the US. Have been telling this for a long time, the US has decided it's not going to be the home for the best and the brightest. It's their country. That's their call. No point in pushing them. Only option is for us to make India the best and the brightest. Remove the US from your thoughts and start planning for India. The USDA's Wildlife Services has been running this since 1995. Without the bait program, raccoon rabies very likely would have spread much further west. A federal program you've probably never heard of is protecting your pets and your kids by feeding wild animals ravioli from a helicopter.

BIG news out of Kitchener-Waterloo: the Ontario Superior Court has ruled that homelessness is an analogous ground for discrimination under s.15 of the Charter. This is a BIG step toward recognizing homeless people as an equity-seeking group under the law. Governments take note!
