In March 2021 @VictorianLabor introduce 133 new tenancy laws in Victoria. Some were overdue & welcomed by both stakeholders offering improved safety & quiet enjoyment for the tenant. But many of these reforms according to the property owner went too far. The Andrews Government was warned, the unintended consequences would result in - less rental properties - higher rents - Increased homelessness This vacancy rate graph is undeniable in the negative impact it's had on renters, with all three scenarios playing out. Yet to the amazement many, after also now hitting landlords with a special Covid land tax levy, they are now considering a Rental Freeze.
