Reports coming from Guinea is that in 1976 Guinea played against Morroco in the 1976 AFCON finals. Morroco walked off the pitch to protest a referee decision and later returned to finish the game and won their first Afcon. Based on recent events the people of Guinea want their trophy

In the 1976 AFCON decisive match, Morocco's players walked off the pitch in protest after their player Abdallah Semmat received a controversial red card. They stayed off for approximately 15 minutes while mediations continued before returning to play.
Morocco needed only a draw while Guinea needed a win to secure the title. Guinea led 1-0 when Morocco walked off. They returned, equalised in the 86th minute and were crowned champions.
Tell me if it’s not the same thing in 2025.
CAF will be in trouble if this shows up at CAS.

Gala were alone on the pitch against a assigned reffree and Live fans. 12 to 10 after Osimhen injured. Poor Live!!!

Senegal have further merit in arguing CAF’s Appeal Board applying Article 84 for the forfeit is incorrect.
The wording of Article 84 is clear - ‘The team which contravenes article 82 AND! article 83’ … will lose its match by 3-0.
There can be no accusation of Senegal contravening Article 83.

Senegal are likely to argue that they did not abandon the game, the match was completed by the referee’s whistle. They can say Article 82 was misapplied because the game continued under the same circumstances and reached its natural end. The referee allowing Senegal back on the pitch and Morocco happily continuing the game will be used to state the match - and result - was valid. As the final was completed, they can argue the integrity of the game was upheld. They can also claim changing the winner of a completed final is an extreme overreach by the Appeal Board. And that the punishment for a delay - not a refusal to play as they finished the game - is excessive.

And it absolutely can. I don’t know how you uphold the CAF decision as CAS with a straight face. In the picture below if the referee canceled the Pen and asked it to be retaken it would have been a valid decision. But he didn’t and Liverpool won the UCL. Imagine Milan appealing and winning in CAS because this was a breach of law.
Procedure cannot be different and shouldn’t be. The Forfeit protocol is no less a rule issue or no more a procedural issue than the expectation that a keeper stays on his line. The trigger for a forfeit is the ref, if he does not do his job, then shit happens, punish him.

i am no sports law expert (just a fan and a lawyer in a different field) but it seems like at c.a.s, the question would turn on whether the doctrine of the field of play can be invoked by senegal, subject to the exceptions of course.
