@usmntaut I think Obed Vargas is a very solid midfielder and will continue progressing well. It would have been nice to have him as an option, though midfield is currently our deepest position

With all due respect to all the players here, the only one that makes a big difference is Ricardo Pepi. By getting him alone, we’ve won the battle this generation. However, there are so many more Mexican-American prospects coming up right now that still need to be recruited.

@JayHrndz2 I do rate Gio higher, though tillman does provide different aspects than Gio that are also useful. Having both of them in the team are great options

@ProspectsUsmnt I think you have to compare what gakpo sold for. He was on a huge tear to include the world cup. Would probably be a bit surprising if he was sold for more. If he did sell for more I doubt it'd be that much

Maybe this is a hot take, but I think next summer Pepi is going to break the American transfer fee record. Pulisic holds it at a little under 56 Million Euros. If Benjamin Sesko costs 85 Million Euros, I think Pepi will cost within ~30 of that with an expected good season.

@tombogert I've been curious about Ziyech. Not sure if he'd be able to produce to the level of a high dp salary but do think he could be a great asset to a team if healthy.

On a couple big-name free agents: 🇮🇹 Lorenzo Insigne was offered to Pumas. Pumas considered & Insigne was open to possibility, but ultimately nothing came of it 🇲🇦 Hakim Ziyech was offered around MLS clubs as potential DP signing but, to my knowledge, no convos were advanced

I think it's important to remember what the US team was for Christian Pulisic while he was struggling for minutes at Chelsea. Gio was not given this same leisure despite how effective and important Gio can be for the US team. The lack of playing time is a valid point, but it should be said that Pulisic was in a relatively similar scenario

@CFC_dennoh When healthy, I really do believe he's the best. Before his injuries I don't think anyone that was as well rounded and effective as he was. Crucial part of both offense and defense. Hope he stays healthy

It won’t happen, but the only way forward is to sack Pochettino. Who replaces him? A motivator-type manager. Doesn’t have to be American, tho more local guys would likely take the job. Someone who makes the basic decisions correctly and gets the mojo back. It’s the only hope.

Yes it is weird. Though I don't know if we ever heard the structure of Parma's offer. Maybe it was similar. While I think the level of gladbach is a good fit for him, I hope the style of play fits better than Parma. I think style of play would have been most important dor Gio's decision

His dad ain't Claudio Reyna Gio is ON a UCL team, but he DOESNT play for them and hasn't for a long time. Didn't break the 11 for Forrest either when he was on loan
