it’s official: May 24th is Sheep Shearing Day at Cello Acres. just two sheep though, so probably over in like 10 minutes ha. decided to have some pros over to show me the ropes this first round. Then take it over from there on out, at least while the flock is a manageable size.

@HomerPavlos Homer, I found this very interesting even without knowledge of this subject. Thanks for writing in a way that is easier to understand. For those who either agree or disagree, I believe it is still well written.

You are total moron who doesn’t understand anything about the healthcare system. Let me help you out. Picture a town with 1 hospital. A doctor wants to open a clinic across the street. He has the money. He has the patients. He needs one thing first… Permission from the hospital he’s about to compete with. That’s not a joke. It’s called Certificate of Need. Thirty-five states still do it. The hospital that’s already there gets to vote on whether the new one exists. They always vote no. That’s why your local hospital can charge $4,000 for an MRI that costs $400 in cash at an independent clinic two states away. There is NO competition because regulations has strangled it. It gets worse. The AMA caps how many doctors America trains every year. On purpose. They’ve done it since 1997. We have a shortage they manufactured. A nurse practitioner who could handle 80% of what a GP does is banned from doing it solo in half the states. Why? Because doctor lobbies wrote the laws. Hospitals lobby to block hospitals. Doctors lobby to block doctors. You don’t have a market. You have a cartel. Every wall in this maze was built by someone who profits from you being lost in it. The fix isn’t complicated. It’s just illegal in too many places. 1) Kill Certificate of Need. Let anyone build a hospital. Let surgery centers open across the street from the big systems. Watch prices drop DRAMATICALLY. 2) Uncap residencies and medical schools 3) Let nurse practitioners and pharmacists practice to the full scope of their training in every state. Most of what you go to a doctor for doesn’t need a doctor. 4) Untie insurance from your job and make individual plans fully tax-deductible. The reason healthcare is a shit show is because there is ZERO competition because it is strangled by regulations and funded by the government. Everything that is funded by th government goes this way. Look at college tuition… same route. The best thing you can do for prices is to pull out the government in every possible area.

Conservatives truly have zero policy solutions to any of our fucking problems lol. Even your dumbass deserves to have more than just “price transparency.” You should have healthcare that’s free at the point of service like people in other countries.

Please share this to a wide audience. Dr. Kaufman is in Denver, but as he says more and more private care facilities are opening up. Listen to what he says and then look for one in your area. We need to support them and break away from the high cost medical organizations.

@DonaldMcKerrow I grew up with a rock bed creek on our property. All summer long my brother and I would play in it, try to build a dam to make a “deep end” to jump into, and hunt for treasures. Great memories.

Kids and some friends built a dam last night. One of the best parts of upstate NY is the easy access to running water. Almost every hollow around here has a small creek that runs year round.

Our health care system is broken. These days, non-for-profit hospitals look more like hedge funds with hospital beds. Today, @WaysandMeansGOP is holding a hearing with hospital CEOs as we continue our investigation into the health care empires that have raised prices and taken away access. Politicians have refused to take on the health care empire and its lobbyists for too long. If we’re serious about lowering costs and expanding access to health care, nothing can be off-limits.

This week meant a lot. After 20 years working in emergency departments, I finally opened my own clinic. We’ve already seen patients. People have stopped by just to support us — even from out of state. The reviews we’ve gotten so far… honestly kind of surreal. Still waiting on signs. Still a lot to do. But it’s happening.
