“Programmed” solid-state reactivity―Minor variations in molecular or solid-state structures can lead to significant differences in properties. In their recent article in @J_A_C_S, Ma, Hutchins @KM_Hutchins, et al. demonstrate that by using a single molecular precursor and varying the wavelengths of light, they can program the chemical functionality into distinct products. These include compounds with one, two, or three cyclobutane rings, as well as oligomeric and polymeric products. Full article: pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ja…
