@Gvx_Light @404Lo_ Proper rebuilding and development talk wasn't even a thing that was really understood or talked about in the NBA until after Hinkie in 2013. The NBA one sport where talent and fit will overcome culture. What did the Thunder show before they won?

@RHJ405 @404Lo_ You are focused on specific teams. I'm telling you that winning teams have a mentality - one that we've never had. This might be your first time hearing talk about development, flexibility, and building a winner. I've been a Hawks fan for 40 years and it's not my first rodeo.

Running back a mid ahh team. I salute this organization to their commitment to being mediocre
Hawks Lead@HawksLead

Per @JakeLFischer | @TheSteinLine: • There has been no indication that the Hawks plan to pursue Giannis Antetokounmpo in a trade this summer. • Atlanta is not expected to aggressively spend on major roster additions, with the focus remaining on internal development and key decisions involving CJ McCollum, Jonathan Kuminga, and head coach Quin Snyder. • The Hawks’ lopsided Game 6 home loss to the Knicks is not expected to significantly alter the team’s offseason approach. • Hawks executive Bryson Graham remains a notable name in the Bulls’ search for a new head of basketball operations. @THEYLOVELLK Hes never been that bad since then and again hes only 21. Unless he regresses to that low of lows I don't see a reason not to let his contract play out and determine what to do then.

@THEYLOVELLK Every single month from October-December improved relative to his rookie year. That despite the fact that he didn't have a competent facilitator. This is the crux of the issue. It seems that you guys talk about him as if he were who he was his first 3 months in the league.

@THEYLOVELLK His career splits show that he is closer to that 2nd half than the first half of his rookie year.

@RHJ405 yeah we just can agree to disagree on that last point because i don’t believe the 2nd half of rookie year is what he is capable of consistently providing just like this year, it shouldn’t take until late december-early january to find his jumper when that’s his main skill

@THEYLOVELLK He was just bad his first 3 months his rookie year. There wasnt really any streakiness. He did get hot in March but I think that is more of an outlier. I expect production to sit in around the 2nd half of his rookie year. Even this year he improved as the year went on.

@RHJ405 even during rookie year it was a 2-3 month stretch of hot shooting, similar to what it was the backend of this year and that was playing with a T3 playmaker in the league i’m not sure which season is closer to baseline for him at this current stage

@THEYLOVELLK I don't think most people who disagree with that. I do see people disagreeing with it being a priority to move him. The priorities should be getting a quality facilitator at the 1 and a good rim protector who can rebound at the 5.

@RHJ405 if the right deal materializes i think it makes sense given team direction and the playstyle we want to develop he’s a solid defender and hustles hard, he’s also league average shooter but very streaky if he needs to be moved to upgrade there shouldn’t be much pushback imo

@THEYLOVELLK He's not if you think hes going to be what he was last year. I personally think hes closer to who he was his rookie year. It seems that the people who want him gone would be disappointed if he only were what he was his rookie year. Thats what I dont understand

@RHJ405 we were able to do that bc huerter’s rookie deal was 11Ms total whereas risa makes more than that a season the extension huerter signed w us is only 7Ms more than risa’s rookie scale contract but that was back before money went up i also don’t think risacher is a net positive

@THEYLOVELLK He's a league average shooter who is an above average perimeter defender as is. Hes only making 14 million next year and 17 million the year after. If he regresses even further then move on from him. Making a long term decision now doesn't make sense.

@RHJ405 that’s a fair assessment i just don’t think we should long term plan around a piece that’s entirely dependent on another piece and has limited ceiling outside of outlier performance

@THEYLOVELLK You make that decision when we get there. The Hawks decided that way with Huerter. They got an offer they liked after year 3 and it ended up working out for them. Same should apply for Risacher. He's a net positive and he just turned 21.

@RHJ405 i understand your point and that’s fair given you disagree with both sides the problem starts to show when you think about long term value and 2nd contract implications

@THEYLOVELLK I look at the value provided relative to the contract he is on. Hes worth what he is making both this year and next year. I will say hes closer to providing the production that he did last year as opposed to this year. He's just dependent on the quality of facilitator he has.

@THEYLOVELLK I am saying that is wrong to hold him to the standard of where he was taken. Just like I disagree with the people who have delusional expectations of what he can become just because he went first. Why can't he just be a complimentary piece who helps fill out your roster?

@THEYLOVELLK Like I said none of these takes were made about Huerter going into year 3. I did see these takes about Reddish and the only reason for that being that Reddish was mid lotto. All of you are so focused on where he was taken and not what he is.

@RHJ405 instead they give hope arguments and make flawed comparisons for their reasoning to keep him his median outcome is not a player worth waiting 2+ years to materialize the upside is not exciting ppl are banking on outlier development but it’s not rooted in anything tangible

@THEYLOVELLK The only sides I have seen are hes the number 1 pick who hasn't gotten a fair shot and he's a bust and one of the worst first overall picks in NBA history so its time to move on. Hes a quality piece who can help us win. The value he brings on his contract is worth keeping.

@RHJ405 a kevin huerter type of player is not a player important to long term team success and the reason this conversation continues within the fanbase is not only bc he was #1 overall, but because there are people who refuse to acknowledge who he is as a basketball player

@LoveHateGS @ToneGully We are in this position again next year as well. People forget we also have the better of the Pels/Bucks 2027 pick. Its 2 years of lottery picks regardless of how we perform.

@THEYLOVELLK What does that even mean? He's on a rookie scale deal for 2 more years. He gets all this attention because he was the first overall pick. Thats the flaw in thinking im pointing out. I never saw this attention placed on Huerter when they are of similar level.

@THEYLOVELLK He has essentially no value right now. How much value he provides to the team is outside his control right now. He needs for us to find someone who can collapse a defense through dribble penetration and find him on the outside.

@RHJ405 i am holding him to what he is an inconsistent 3&D player who can’t play off the catch can he improve at that? sure is that player worth any return on investment if that’s what he becomes? doubt it get value out of him before we can’t

@Gvx_Light @404Lo_ You do not want to be Philly nor do you want to be New York. We made the ECF in 2021 and that did nothing for us. Thats why the Sixers are. An old team thats going to the ECF and no further.

@ToneGully There are two things this team really needs. An actual PG that can run the offense without being a defensive liability and a rim protecting C that can hold his own on the glass.
