With the wet weather, coming just as many fields are bare or only scattered with seedlings, is leading to a massive run off of sediments into our watercourses. Sediments cause all kinds of issues, carrying nutrients and pesticides with them and smothering valuable fish habitat

On this steep farm track water is diverted into a #swale (running along the right-hand side of the track) where it it absorbed and the sediments within it deposited

Simple solutions are often the most effective. This cross-drain captures water running down from the track above and redirects it onto the field rather than allowing it to carry sediment laden dirty water into the nearby watercourse

Great morning learning about #soil from Gareth Davies. Organic matter is most important! The more of this you have, the more carbon you lock in and the more water you'll hold. Also learnt about soil smells, what different colours in soils mean and what is a good worm count!

Barry the bull has a new slurry store thanks to #TeamEA. Our officers conducted an inspection of the store in #Sandbach to confirm that it met Silage,Slurry & Agricultural Fuel Oil Regulations. As you can see Barry is delighted that the inspection was a success!
