I am telling you today that the Seattle Seahawks will not lose another game this season. I saw enough last game vs the Rams to know what this defense has become. @Softykjr

Today I’m racing the Tour de Donut in Staunton, IL. It’s a 36 mile bike race with 2 stops for donuts, and every donut eaten is 5 min off your time. F*ck the donuts, I’m trying to win this thing outright.

@DavidDack The half marathon has saved more marriages than the marathon has broken.

The half marathon might be the smartest race distance for normal adults. Not the sexiest thing to say, I know. But if you have a job, stress, family stuff, bad sleep, and a body that complains now for no reason… 13.1 miles makes a lot of sense.

@DavidDack I once watched Zach Bitter break a record on the treadmill. I made it the entire time, even with the hosts on the livestream talking about crazy unrelated subjects. I'm still proud of myself for being able to be on the pain cave couch and still finish the stream, even with ads.

Treadmill running is not fake, and honestly I’m tired of hearing that. But saying it is exactly the same as running outside is nonsense too. Outdoor runners act like they own real running, treadmill runners get defensive, and meanwhile your legs are just doing the work.

@DavidDack I saw the lawsuit 7/11 is flinging at Nike and went to the only shoe guy I know on x. I don't have money for the 7/11s so will cling to my 2016 flynit racers and reminisce about the times we shared.

@RJPPearson that comment went completely off the rails 😂 but I respect the commitment to turning random shoes into a life mission.

Is a sub-2 half marathon actually fast, or just the first goal recreational runners defend like family land?

@tim_roozendaal I got into running at age 48 after a heart attack. It's all relative. I'm an ultra runner and I do keep an eye on heart rate more than pace. Relaxed, stress-free, and smooth is my mantra.

A lot of runners I've worked with are obsessed with heart rate numbers. I was one of those guys too. Trying to keep the heart rate below a certain number they chose based on vibes. But that's not how heart rate data should be used. The value in heartrate data is in longer term trends. Heart rate tending lower at the same speed? Great Speed getting faster at the same heartrate? Great Heart rate and speed stay the same over a multi month period? Back to the drawing board

@zbitter I then noticed my heart rate was not rising at all when shifting to the higher effort. Too small of sample size, but you 2 were on my mind both runs today.

@zbitter I'm thinking the stress of being different will mess with the mind. Having a team of people doing the same will add more courage to embrace the change.

Given what we know about pacing in endurance events, it is very likely Francisco Puppi lost first place to Vincent Bouillard by chasing Hans Troyer up to Forest Hill. He was 10 minutes up on Vincent at that point and likely paid for that move later. Don't get me wrong, he did amazing considering it was his first 100 miler and was able to keep it together as well as he did, but I believe that was a mistake given how the splits played out.

Run The News | Did WSER 100 Highlight A Missed Pacing Advantage? WSER 100 2026 was defined by large improvements in finishing times across both the men’s and women’s top finishers. What does the historically cooler temps help tell us about the next big performance boosting strategy for ultramarathon races? Nick Coury joins me to discuss the pacing variable that may still yield big improvements at races like WSER 100. Also available on all podcast platforms. @zbitter My variation is to reverse split effort, not pace. I am looking at pace later. I simply run like I'm on a long road trip, then 2nd half I go with a tiny bit of effort, like very little more.

Years from now, I believe people will look back on this moment as one of the greatest self-inflicted failures in professional sports. The public was ready. Fans were excited. Millions of people who had never watched a WNBA game suddenly became invested in women's basketball. The league had the rarest opportunity in sports... a transformational superstar capable of changing its trajectory for generations. Instead of embracing that moment, the WNBA chose culture wars over basketball, politics over player protection, and ideology over leadership. Rather than showcasing the game at its best, it allowed controversy, inconsistency, and internal division to become the story. And the generation of young girls who finally saw the sport capturing the nation's attention, instead got to watch the league squander one of the greatest growth opportunities it has ever been given.

@DavidDack To be fair, my super shoes did sit in the closet patiently. Just keeping them enshrined on their own shelf wasn't really fair to them. They were made to run and they were left in the dark for months. The shoes deserve to share some of the glory.

Train for months. Wake up early. Build the long runs. Miss social plans. Do the boring easy miles. Fight through bad workouts. Race your guts out. Then someone says your time “doesn’t count” because of your shoes. Carbon plates did not wake up at 5 a.m. for you. They did not run the miles. They did not practice fueling. They did not survive the ugly middle of the race. They did not convince your legs to keep going when the pace stopped feeling cute. Yes, shoes can help. No, they do not run the race for you. Mostly, they just gave insecure runners a new excuse to explain why someone else got faster.

@zbitter You're so spot on here. For me, YK vs Fejes at ATY literally got me hooked on ultra running from a fan perspective. Great lineups with great competition is 100x more pleasurable to follow than one person dominating start to finish.

The 2010 WSER 100 Mile is still one of the best storylines the sport has produced. Four very different roads to the start line, all undefeated at the 100 mile distance, same goal, raw and authentic.

Non-runners will never understand owning five pairs of running shoes while saying only two are “in rotation.” Like the others are injured. One pair is retired but emotionally important. One pair is “still good for walking.” One pair is for bad weather. One pair is too pretty to ruin. One pair is definitely dead but you keep pretending. Running shoes don’t leave your life. They just get demoted into stranger and stranger jobs. Be honest. How many pairs do you own right now?
