An overdue update of the British RL 300 try club, following last week's achievement by @Ryan5Hall on hitting the even more exclusive 350 club: just the 18th man in history to do it 👏👏👏 @Joshuacharnley is now 29 tries behind him

Having reviewed the circumstances of the 'new' @Salford_RLFC club, we can confirm that they will be considered a continuation of the earlier club, founded in 1873, and all club records will roll on with the new team from 2026.

Following today's announcement about the liquidation of @SalfordDevils we await news of any 'phoenix club' taking their place in next years' competitions. This will be judged on its merits but precedent is that any such club will be considered a continuation of the previous club

@Forty20LIVE @rugbyleagueproj Despite the wranglings over the governining body in Tonga there was never any requirement from IRL for the team to be officially named anything different. "Tonga" continued to play games throughout the period between recognised governing bodies, as recorded by both IRL & RKC👍

@garmstrong61 @shaggy84329 @QuinnRod The 1960 and 1970 events held in the UK were referred to as "World Cup Series" on programmes. 1957 in Aus was "World Cup". 1968 in Aus / NZ was "World Championship". 1975 in NH at least was "World Championship". It seems the term used changed as often as the format!

@shaggy84329 @RL_RKC @QuinnRod In the NSWRL's official yearbook for 1977, ARL Chair Kevin Humphreys calls the ’77 tournament the 'World Championship Series'. The 1975 edition was widely known & promoted in Australia as the World Series, but I guess this might have been a shorter version of its official title.

I’m not saying that it isn’t regarded as a World Cup now…merely that it definitely wasn’t regarded as one back then. It was more like the Four Nations Tournament. Many years later someone decided that it was a World Cup. No idea who.
Chris Sanders@ChrisSa77549552

@QuinnRod Who the hell are you? Everyone else says it's a World Cup no different from 1988 and 92 when it was a far different format! You are an odd ball!

The 2025 Pacific Championships were attended by more than 159,041 (I never got a crowd for Fiji/Cook Is) This would appear to be up 38% on the 2024 edition, with reported crowds in 2024 reaching more than 114,816.

@shaggy84329 @QuinnRod 1977 was a World Cup, played in a 'standard' format. 1975 was very different in format, and labelled the World Championship (not World Series); however it was always historically been included in the line of WC competitions. As noted (eg 1980/90s) different formats have been used

Isaac Shaw's debut for @SalfordDevils took them to 71 players used for the season, just one off the peacetime record^ with 2 games of the season remaining. ^ in WW2 competitive games continued, but clubs were permitted to use guests players for other teams

@SalfordDevils have now used 68 players this season, which is a record for a club in the top flight. It isn't an all-time record for the pro-ranks though, and in fact there are 3 teams who have used more. @LondonSkolarsRL hold the record with 72 in their debut season in 2003.

Time will tell whether this abridged table gives a better indication of play-off form than the main league, or whether it's all irrelevant! Feel free to bookmark & come back on 11th October to tell us we know nothing 😀 Alternatively give us a RT if you found it interesting 👍

more bleak for @Saints1890 fans: they've come out on top in only 2 of 8 games against the best in the comp. They have an opportunity to improve that tonight, but this might be a concern heading into the play-offs when they'll come up against these teams again. ...

As the play-offs loom in @SuperLeague we thought we'd put a different slant on the league table. This one might please @leedsrhinos followers, but @Saints1890 fans may want to look away now, as we look at a couple of abridged head-to-head tables (attached) Read on for more 👇

@leedsrhinos Agreed. The last time it was done in consecutive first-class matches was 19/05/2006 V Rochdale in the cup (66-0), and Bradford 0-30 in the league a week later

Leeds tonight managed to nil their opposition for the first time in back to back league games for the first time since February 1968. 58 years ago, Leeds won at Dewsbury 13-0 on 10th February 1968 before defeating Halifax at Headingley on 16th February 1968 35-0
