Flashback: Palestinian Islamic leader Sheikh Yusuf Al-Makharze screams that Muslim men who marry minor girls are fulfilling Allah’s divine will and setting the best example for Muslims. He claims that Allah himself puts egg cells inside girls (some as young as 9) as signals to Muslim men to use the girls. This is not a fringe opinion. It is mainstream Islamic teaching that treats little girls as sexual property to be used by grown Muslim men whenever the man feels the “signal” from Allah. In Islam, girls are not human beings with rights, they are objects to be owned, married off as children, raped, and discarded when inconvenient. This Palestinian Muslim leader is simply following Islam doctrine according to which, child marriage and child rape are not crimes but Allah’s orders for Islam’s worshippers.

We honor their courage, sacrifice and willingness to stand in the gap for the freedoms we so often take for granted. Comfort the families with empty seats at tables, folded flags and memories that still ache. Be near to every spouse, parent, child, sibling and friend who feels this loss today. Surround them with Your peace and remind them they are not forgotten. Lord, protect and strengthen those currently serving in our military. Give them wisdom, courage, discernment and safety wherever they are stationed. Bless the veterans who carry both visible and invisible wounds from their service. Bring healing, hope and support into their lives. We also pray for President Trump and all leaders of this nation. Grant them humility, discernment, integrity and wisdom beyond human understanding. Guide their decisions toward justice, peace and unity. May we live with gratitude for every blessing we enjoy today because someone was willing to give everything for it.
