@CamSpradling Maybe part of it is not wanting to believe. It’s so much easier if the unspeakably terrible thing didn’t happen. Also, thinking rationally takes deliberate effort; thinking emotionally happens without effort.

4) Why does a community always err in favor of the adult, instead of erring in favor of the child? I don’t get it, I represent the kids … and it’s the kids of their community. Why hate on those kids, parents of those kids, and myself? Why hate on OKC media & Tulsa media?🤷🏻‍♂️🤔

1) Allow me to share a phenomenon and I would appreciate your thoughts and comments. I’ve been an attorney in these Oklahoma abuse scandal lawsuits: McLoud, Perry, Salina, Ninnekah, Wewoka, Kingfisher, & Ringling; to name a few.

People suggest that Ryan Walters purposefully misspells to intentionally antagonize. But, if that were true then his followers would be getting his inside joke. Yet, they can’t spell either. I believe that like Trump … Ryan Walters simply can’t spell.

@Grants_Pass @OHPAlerts They wouldn’t send out an alert like this if they didn’t have reason to believe she was truly in danger. (I’m assuming, but otherwise we’d be getting alerts all the time, right?)

US Chess sent me a cease & desist demanding that “on behalf of its members" I refrain from contact with scholastic/teen members. This would stop me from replying to girls who reach out about my books and work, who see me as a role model who prioritizes their success and safety.

@JenniferJoyOK @ThriceSavage @GregoryHardinII No. Is this easier to understand? “Consider what happened in ‘91 before reporting on this—not because you might think twice about reporting on it at all, but because doing so could result in better, more respondible reporting.”

@ThriceSavage @GregoryHardinII You literally said your peers should consider a past event “before” reporting the citation. That implies that you don’t think it should be reported. If you had said “when” instead of “before,” then maybe it would fly. Words matter.

I would ask my media peers at least to consider what happened in 1991 before reporting this citation. If you weren't here or sentient at that time, then Google it. But red exclamation points and CAPS LOCK are not necessary.

@PFTCommenter Apparently this guy hasn’t been around horses that much or not much experience on how to settle any horse down instead of trying to yank on him and being aggressive a simple pat on his shoulder or neck would’ve been better.

@NMIHarris @space_Amy That’s great advice—giving yourself more than one metric by which to measure success at a tournament or over a given period of time.

@space_Amy It’s difficult psychologically. I’ve witnessed people overly focusing on rating, get frustrated and give up when they hit a rut. It’s important to set goals that you control such as finishing a book, improving time management, or learning a new opening.

@GreenHope42 @space_Amy But assuming she not @chesscom but rather OTB: If only! I play much better when I’m so outmatched there’s no pressure to win. But when I play a little kid rated within a couple hundred points of me? Sheer terror 😳

@jmwender @photojournalism Question about a photo caption in today’s (excellent) article about Autherine Lucy. Re: “To the right of her,” is this how @nytimes indicates a person to the reader’s right?
