Such a satisfying book. In the ancient world, a biography was meant to paint a picture of the “way” someone lived so it can be a model for others. These were less concerned about the where and when of someone’s life, but their “way” of living. I’m totally charmed by this.

Spent a few hours trying to clean-up this beauty, but it was worth it: It is Ernest Shackleton and his crew on the ice, beside their ship Endurance, during his trans-antarctic expedition in 1915, taken on paget plate by Frank Hurley. It is original colour (not colourised).

@jonathanchait Absolutely not. This morbid fascination with the terrible things Trump says and does is how we got him as President in the first place. He thrives on our attention. Why in the world would we give him that (especially now that this administration is making progress)?
