@NLJH1993 @WillHants100 @MathsHomeWorker TfL haven’t been able to answer what will happen with drivers who opt out, with new drivers, drivers who change depots etc.
As there’s been a suspension then TfL may well have been able to provide some answers and assurances.
We’ll see.
English

@RMTunion @WillHants100 @MathsHomeWorker Literally states it on the TFL website but okay.
So, if drivers decide to opt out and stick to 5 days and TFL rail enforce that choice for the whole of their employment, would you agree with that decision?

🚨 RMT suspends planned Tube driver strike this week 🚨
A union spokesperson said: "At the 11th hour the employer has shifted its position allowing us to further explore our members concerns around the imposition of new rosters, fatigue and safety issues.
"The dispute is not over and more strike action will follow if we fail to make sufficient progress."

@NLJH1993 @WillHants100 @MathsHomeWorker It hasn’t been made clear, Nathan.
That’s the point.
You don’t agree to wholesale changes to terms and conditions without knowing precisely what the implications are.
English

@RMTunion @WillHants100 @MathsHomeWorker Stamping your feet. It’s been made clear it’s voluntary but you keep looking for a battle to keep yourselves relevant. Thank God I don’t commute in London. Here, if drivers choose to opt out and the TFL decide to enforce that decision for the whole employment, will you agree?
English

@NLJH1993 @WillHants100 @MathsHomeWorker Our negotiators aim to deliver concrete assurances that the scheme will be voluntary and that all drivers will be able to retain their current working practices, should they desire it.
English

@RMTunion @WillHants100 @MathsHomeWorker Why don’t you mention once in that article that the 4 day week is voluntary?
35 extra days off a year (according to ASLEF) in a nation of overworked people, in exchange for “some fairly minor changes to working conditions”.
So you don’t have to do it and it’s great if you do?
English

@NLJH1993 @MathsHomeWorker It is our members who determine the course of action, in this case tube drivers, and the General Secretary is there to enact what they decide, Nathan.
English

@MathsHomeWorker @RMTunion I’m not from London and don’t use their services. But other unions have agreed to the terms. Eddie Dempsey is the leader of these tools and he knows that without strike action and all this commotion, he’s not needed. It’s within HIS best interests to keep this shite going.
English

@MathsHomeWorker @RMTunion Public opinion…. Matters. Doesn’t it? Ask commuters who use TfL every day, what they think about pay rises for striking staff, a more expensive system, etc.
