The Hour of the Missing Definition The studio lights are dimmed and low, A shadow of the show we know. Where Jenni Murray once held the line, Clear in thought and sharp in spine. She knew the ground on which she stood, No need to blur what’s understood. No hedged reply, no careful spin - She said what words were anchored in. Now Nuala leads and Anita agrees, As plain words drift on careful seas. They circle themes, avoid the core, And never quite define the door. The Hour remains, the Woman’s gone, Rewritten quietly, then moved on. Swapped for language soft and wide, Where nothing firm can quite reside. It’s hard to steer a flagship show When basic terms you will not know. To claim the ground of women’s rights, Then spend the hour on borrowed sights. The audience drifts, the patience thins, They sense the game, they see the spins. A fog of words, a careful dance, An endless hedge, a studied glance. If “woman” now’s a shifting claim, A feeling dressed up as a name, Then drop the title, end the act - A show untethered from its fact. Then end it now, draw down the blind, No need to dress it up as kind. In that last hush, beneath the beat, You hear a legend’s slow retreat.

We dodged a bullet on Tuesday. Liam McArthur was the Holyrood frontman for these democracy deniers. Like Holyrood's, the Westminster bill is a Private Member's Bill, not a government or manifesto bill: x.com/i/status/20350…

The House of Lords has “signed its own death warrant.” Kim Leadbeater MP warns a minority of Peers are damaging the legitimacy of the House by blocking the public and MP-backed assisted dying Bill.

@EdwardJDavey British? Only when it suits them. Their loyalty is to Islam then the country from which they're descended. They live here on their terms, not ours. And all you UK loathing, multiculturalism/DEI fanatics are perfectly comfortable with that. Your traitorism won't be forgotten.

@FrankLeeBrian Don't be too harsh on the child. Not even acting his shoe size yet. A typical SNP youngling. So dumb he thinks he's clever. Utterly clueless as to his lack of knowledge and intelligence. Just the way the SNP likes them.

Classic cherry-picked spin from an SNP cheerleader. The post quotes a Table 5 from the freshly released UK Covid-19 Inquiry Module 3 report, which lists raw cumulative Covid-attributed deaths up to June 2022: roughly England 170,000, Scotland 15,000, Wales 10,000. The poster then calculates "death rates" per capita from that—England ~7.1% higher than Scotland, Wales ~21% higher—and credits it all to Nicola Sturgeon's "leadership," Jeanne Freeman, Humza Yousaf, and the SNP as Scotland's saviours who "put Scotland first." Technically, the per-capita recorded Covid deaths checks out marginally. Scotland's lower population density, fewer mega-cities like London, and minor differences in testing/reporting timing probably contributed too. But calling this proof of superior SNP governance is straight-up propaganda—selective stats ignoring the fuller picture. Excess all-cause mortality (the gold-standard metric that doesn't rely on how countries labelled "Covid deaths") was basically identical across the UK nations. ONS and other analyses put England, Scotland, and Wales in the same ballpark—around 3% above pre-pandemic trends overall through the period. No dramatic Scottish miracle. Scotland's care-home disaster: One of the worst in Europe proportionally. The SNP government's policy (discharging untested hospital patients into care homes) was slammed in prior inquiries and even admitted as a "mistake" by Sturgeon herself. It drove a huge chunk of early deaths among the elderly. Replies in the thread are right to highlight this—Scotland had the UK's highest care-home death proportion in some metrics. The Module 3 report itself is about healthcare impacts and preparedness failures across the UK. It doesn't single out Scotland as a success story or praise devolved leadership. It's a broad critique of systemic issues (PPE shortages, hospital discharges, etc.) that hit everywhere. This is textbook partisan messaging: grab one favourable slice of data, ignore the scandals, excess deaths parity, demographics, and the fact that frontline NHS staff (not politicians) did the heavy lifting. Then slap on the "only SNP!" slogan to keep the independence cult going. If the SNP's record was so stellar, Scotland wouldn't still lead the UK in drug deaths, have declining life expectancy trends pre-Covid in some areas, or face constant scandals. This isn't "putting Scotland first"—it's putting party narrative first. The inquiry data doesn't back the hero worship; it just gives propagandists another cherry to pick.

All thanks to Nicola Sturgeon and her leadership during the pandemic, as well as Jeanne Freeman - and later Humza Yousaf - for their work as Health Secretary. There’s only one party that can govern Scotland well, and that’s the SNP. No other party will put Scotland first.

Remember this article from Jenni Murray in 2017. Totally reasonable, nothing extreme, just saying men can’t be women. Then there was all the protests, calls to cancel talks, The BBC warned her, restricted her on air, and by 2020 she left Woman’s Hour. But she never backed down, even as the pushback continued for years. This is how speaking honestly costs you in public life. But she was forever right. Rest in peace, brave and courageous Jenni Murray. thetimes.com/article/490f2f…

Doing a space on Monday as I have recently learned that young vulnerable homeless girls are being placed into a hotel in Glasgow which also houses a lot of males who are so called asylum seekers. These young women are allegedly terrified. What I need if you are willing to share is for people to come in and tell us what is going on. You can do this by either speaking in the space or sending me some intel. Whether it be in Glasgow or other towns or cities. I can’t for the life of me understand why anyone in authority would place vulnerable females amongst males many of whom do not respect their boundaries. If you have heard of the same happening in your towns and cities please help us raise awareness.

@FrankLeeBrian Not had the Ryanair experience for approx 20 years. Indeed, not flown since 2015. Flew Edinburgh to Bristol with EasyJet to collect a car from Swindon. Having a wee rest (life etc). Did 14 flights in 2013.
