Two weeks from today, the new provincial budget will deliver the largest ever increase in school operating funding and a record new commitment to address classroom size and complexity. Today, I am taking the unusual step of announcing part of the education budget prior to budget day, to clearly demonstrate our commitment to address teachers’ concerns around classroom supports. In light of these significant new commitments, I am asking the STF to pause their job action so that teachers and students can return to their classrooms, and the teachers’ union can return to the bargaining table.

Since accepting the invitation to bargain, government has done nothing but stall, mislead the public and try to undermine our collective bargaining process. A timeline of events is as follows.

Hey @jeremycockrill: BC, PEI, Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick have all worked class size and complexity into their teacher agreements. We need this managed consistently at the provincial level, not by individual divisions struggling with cuts brought on by your government. ⬇️

I voted YES. As a teacher, I know my middle years students are NOT getting what they need in terms of academic or mental health supports. As a mom to a son with Cerebral Palsy, I worry what’ll be left of our broken system by the time he’s school ready. #IAmSFF @SaskTeachersFed

The government claims they're ready to negotiate, but has refused to discuss the issues critical to teachers. Instead, they launched a misleading taxpayer-funded billboard campaign that paints teachers as villains. The minister needs to check his work. @STFPresident
