Ryan Fox is just the SECOND major champion in the last 15 years to be ranked outside of the top 50 in the OWGR. Without googling. Can you name the other player….

Holly Hamilton, a fine broadcaster but with no Hurling hinterland, presented ‘live’ coverage of the All-Ireland Final on BBC NI: why? It’s finest presenter, Mark Sidebottom, an encyclopaedia on the game, on interviews? I declare that I am a friend and admirer who is in shock.

🚨 Roy Keane on Nico Williams disallowed goal against Argentina: “I’ve just seen the biggest robbery of this World Cup. The ball comes into the box, nobody touches anybody, everyone goes up for it, then one Argentina player starts shouting. The next thing you know, two defenders are on the floor appealing, Nico Williams has scored, and Emiliano Martinez … who wasn’t even touched… is somehow lying there as well asking for a foul. The referee blows immediately. No VAR review. No replay. No check to see if there was actually any contact. Just disallowed. Apparently if enough Argentina players fall over at the same time, that’s now considered conclusive evidence. If we’re being honest, Paredes shouldn’t even still be on the pitch after some of the tackles he’s made today. Yet somehow the only thing the referee managed to spot instantly was an invisible foul.”

Lots of dry and warm weather to come this week with increasing amounts of sunshine from Thursday and the latest data says peak temperatures will occur Thursday or Friday in the west .. up to 25 or 26 degrees.

@EamonnMallie @LynetteFay Absolutely agree. The very best presenter and a reporter who never falls for sport’s faux narratives and exposes, with wondrous use of language, any disciplines’ flaws with intelligence and clarity. The genuine gem in the BBC Sport ‘crown’. A fine man too, a trusted friend.

BBC’s MARK SIDEBOTTOM brings star quality to sports coverage - on display today in Galway /Cork hurling match. His fluency, turn of phrase, excitement of the moment come from the school of the masters, Micheál O’Muircheartaigh, Peter O’Sullivan, John McEnroe and Murray Walker

That was one of the best games of rugby in the modern era. Ireland face huge challenges in its style, pace and finding talent ahead.

Speaker Poots has now told @Tracey_utv that Party Officers were told about the complaint from the young woman about Donaldson’s actions in a student environment. Question now is which officers.. honorary? Employed? Voted in?
Michael Cairns@Cairnspolitics

For younger viewers , the man on the left in a sky blue tie is Lord (Maurice) Morrow who has been a constant in party affairs as chairman since 2000. A close ally of Arlene Foster he was also responsible for legislation that led to criminalising the purchase of sex in NI.

Devastating today to hear this news, heartbreaking for everyone who knew and worked with Philip Doyle. My love for his family at this difficult time, my never ending love for those who called Philip a coach, a friend, a mentor, we were all lucky to have shared time with him
Irish Rugby@IrishRugby

We are all deeply saddened to hear of the passing of former Ireland Women’s Head Coach Philip ‘Goose’ Doyle. Philip was a pioneering and transformative coach in the women’s game in Ireland, most memorably guiding us to a famous Grand Slam in 2013. Everyone at Irish Rugby is thinking of Philip’s family and friends at this sad time.
