168005 calling at Haddenham with a service for Marylebone on 19/03/03. Only the north end middle vehicle has the statutory contrasting door vinyls. At this time it had only recently been reinserted into 168005, having been temporarily used as a centre car for a class 168/1 unit.

@matthewhodg Not sure there have been that many over the last 100 years. Shakedown generally has to happen in service on the railway.

I'm very sceptical about Burnham, as I was about Starmer. I'm still open to any progressive, centre-left movement because it is better than Reform/Restore. Thin gruel though.

@TiceRichard Soft power Richard. Worth every last penny. Either you don't understand that or you are performatively pretending not to.

EMR has finally gone public and fingered Hitachi for the Class 810 late delivery and unreliability plus unreliability of Class 222s which Hitachi also maintain. Class 810 rollout "will continue through 2026/2027. Order was placed 7 years ago

@AndyRoden1 Applying the livery before GBR actually exists does seem a bit cart-before-horse.

Glad to see leaving the EU helped remove bureaucracy… Look at the lovely queue on the right we used to be allowed in.

On this day in 2002. Marylebone Station Master Donald Wilson shows off "Bill" and "Ben", two experimental ticket vending machines that were installed for trials. "Bill" on the left is an Ascom B8070 and "Ben" on the right is a Shere Fast Ticket. The latter won favour.

@gceccles Definitely a worry, but that said. I haven't noticed a reduction in insect splatter on train fronts.

Been visiting friends this week, three hour drive each way, mostly Motorway. Looked at the car windscreen this am and only 8 dead insects. A few years ago the windscreen would have been plastered. Where have all the insects gone?

@uncreativetom The point is, the bat tunnel was necessary in order to comply with legislaltion. We can argue about whether or not that legistation is sound or correct, but it is disingenuous to use it as a stick with which to beat HS2.

This projects price has obviously been way overblown but I’m so tired of seeing this bat tunnel brought up in every argument. The bat tunnel is a good thing and is a minuscule part of the project cost. There are far bigger fish to fry with this project than nature protection
Looking for Growth@lfg_uk

Sheer incompetence, or something worse? HS2 will cost more than £100bn. JUST HS2. Spain's ENTIRE High Speed Rail network cost LESS than £100bn. THE ENTIRE NETWORK! The world's SECOND longest. There are NO excuses. This is a choice. Why do our leaders keep choosing it?

I've always found Ann Widdecombe's opinions rather foul. In fact she's often been my reverse weather vane. If she hated something, I loved it and vice versa. However, I'm not going to revel in a violent murder and I don't understand people who do.

I have a dream, that whoever designed the USB-A plug dies, & at the cremation, the coffin snags on the opening that leads to the business side of the crematorium. And that all the undertakers can do is turn the coffin upside down in order to make it fit through the slot.

The pressure on Nigel Farage has never been greater. Now is the time to stand with him. He's fought through worse before, and he'll come through this too. Keep the faith🩵
