Organised my surgical scrub hats today between emergency cases. The thing that feels special is that almost all of these were gifts. Grateful to the beautiful people who make this #neurosurgery #oncalllife work and sustain me in gratitude.

@GongGasGirl there has been a suggestion that there is no evidence for gowns to decrease infection rates for neuraxial. No gowns would eliminate alot of waste. (still need masks and sterile gloves).

More on sustainability! @JustinSkowno et al *designed their own* customised flowmeter system to detect nitrous oxide leakage. They identified a 50% leakage/wastage rate. Donna Freer notes 75 million 'bluey' absorbent sheets are used in Australia every year. Trials of reusable 'bluey' (which she has brought to the podium and is green 💚) show they perform just as well *and* decrease usage by 50% 🤯 #sustainability #RACS24
