I'm happy to share that for the first time since independence, we have successfully closed 10 mines in the last 8 months, following scientific procedures. 147 mines have also been identified for closure in a time-bound manner. With revised guidelines and continued monitoring, these mines are transformed into eco parks or as engines for local development. On this occasion, I also inaugurated the Neyveli Book Fair 2025 and launched key publications of Ministry of Coal and Mines, including the Event Souvenir, Vision Documents on Aluminium and Copper, Mission Green and RECLAIM initiative. The event was attended by Executive Members of World Mining Congress, senior officials of @CoalMinistry, @MinesMinIndia, PSUs in Mining Sector, research institutes and industry stakeholders.
