Today is National Peacekeepers’ Day 🕊 From conflict zones to humanitarian missions, their service has helped bring stability and hope to communities around the world. Past and present, we honour the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of Australia’s peacekeepers.

Merchant Navy Day was commemorated on 3rd September with a service at the Navigator Memorial, Port Adelaide. Lest We Forget their service and sacrifice in maintaining supplies during wartime, and in peacetime for stability of our large, island nation.

659 Trooper Melville Leonard Axford enlisted in 1915, aged 49, and served with the 1st Australian Remount Unit. In 1920 he was elected to the RS&SILA SA committee. vwma.org.au/explore/people… Axford's, RAS and RS&SILA badges are now displayed respectfully in the RSL SA Boardroom.

#AusAirForce has conducted air-to-air refuelling clearance trials with the @usairforce at @TeamEglin & @EdwardsAFB. A RAAF KC-30A Multi-Role Tanker Transport refuelled a USAF F-15EX Eagle II and a F-15E Strike Eagle. A USAF KC-46A Pegasus refuelled a RAAF E-7A Wedgetail.

A service to commemorate the 1953 cessation of Korean War hostilities will be held on Friday 25th July at the post-WW11 Memorial, corner of North Terrace and Kintore Avenue, Adelaide. Commencing at 10:15am it is open to veterans, families, public, school students. Lest We Forget

🎖️The King, The Queen and The Prince of Wales have hosted a special reception at Windsor Castle for holders of the Victoria Cross and George Cross. The Victoria Cross is awarded to those serving in British and Commonwealth Forces who have shown tremendous bravery. The George Cross, which can be awarded to anyone, is given to people who show heroism or courage in extreme danger. His Majesty has been Patron of the VC & GC Association since 2022.

The Annual State Conference was opened by the Governor. The new President and Board was introduced. Dennis Oldenhove was presented with the RSL National ANZAC of the Year Award. Reports were presented and motions carried. @RSL_SA Onwards and upwards to benefit veterans.

2025 State Board Election Results Announced. Brad Flaherty is elected as State President RSL SA Inc. Elected Board Members - Phil Southam, Meredith Burgess, Tich Tyson and John O'Grady. They join the other board members, Margot and Ben, who remain in their existing terms.

The flagpole at Keswick Barracks was removed due to white ant damage. A new flagpole has been recently installed nearby to the previous site. From 1913 it was on the headquarters building before the third storey was added in 1939.
