@conormulv @RTEClimateWatch Posts like this show exactly why RTÉ is an absolute disgrace. The sooner the whole organisation is closed down the better. And the cheek to pick up Alan on his employment and say absolutely nothing on Gibbons company and who it’s clients are shows RTE’s true colours. Disband it

More power to the data centre guy for leveraging his weather posts into a national platform to oppose climate action, but media orgs that invite him to talk about how reducing emissions won't save us from the impacts of climate change should point out his conflict of interest.

@RTEClimateWatch Btw - Irelands temperate ( Goldilocks) climate is perfect for the location of data centres. Cooling & heating loads are much reduced - therefore better for the environment. We just need to ensure that they pay handsomely for the benefits.

@saloreilly An employee doesn't have a financial interest in their industry? I'm not aware of any conflict of interest John Gibbons has but I'd agree that any conflict of interest should be called out.

@RTEClimateWatch I don’t have a financial stake in Blacknight or any data centre, I’m an employee. Also are you aware of Mr Gibbons company that he is co founder and CEO of. Don’t see you calling for that to be disclosed. Why not put your name and photo to your own account?

@saloreilly @BiffAndFinn @lstwrd And industry lobbyists in every country use the same argument that if they reduce emissions the emissions will just move elsewhere. Under the Paris Agreement, we're responsible for reducing our own emissions and other countries have to reduce theirs.
