🇺🇸 Specialist Brittany B. Gordon was a dedicated U.S. Army Intelligence Analyst from St. Petersburg, Florida.
As a Specialist she was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team).
Gordon deployed to Afghanistan in April 2012 on her first combat tour, where she served as a lead intelligence analyst supporting operations in Kandahar Province. On October 13, 2012, at just 24 years old, Specialist Gordon was killed in action when her unit was struck by an IED in Kandahar Province during Operation Enduring Freedom. 🕊️
She was the first female Military Intelligence Analyst to be killed in action in Iraq or Afghanistan. Gordon was laid to rest at Sunset Memory Gardens in Thonotosassa, Florida.
Her service and sacrifice are remembered for her professionalism, leadership by example, and commitment to her fellow soldiers.

I went through RIP with Brad Rappuhn (right), and we both ended up in the same squad in 3rd Batt. He was a goofy, soft-spoken Michigan dude, who always and everywhere had a comically large dip in.
He was killed in Kandahar on Aug 8, 2010, but about 2 months before that we were clearing a building that had some fighters holed up in it, and one of them had a frag grenade on him. He pulled the pin before we shot him, and we didn't see him drop the frag when he went down. In went off in the room; it messed up one of our guys pretty bad, but he healed up okay. Brad, we thought, was fine. We got back to camp and were dressing down in the ready room; Brad pulled off his pants to change into shorts, and he had all this blood running down his leg, which he hadn't noticed. A couple of us were like "Brad, I think you got hit in the ass". He just looked back over his shoulder and said "son of a bitch, right in my tattoo." This kid had, hand to God, a tattoo of a frag grenade on his thigh, and had taken a piece of shrapnel in it which he had not even registered with the adrenaline. It was only a little cut, but that was one of the funniest and unbelievable moments.
