@DefraGovUK The Government has announced it will repeal the law requiring the recording of rights of way to prevent them being extinguished. ( In 2023 a new 2031 deadline for such recording was introduced #commentary-key-ec510a0e90a45e07a4adc7c7bef98906" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2000/37/… ) gov.uk/government/new…

@DefraGovUK I think this #FOI response is the first official, public, confirmation that the Government has scrapped plans to extinguish unrecorded rights of way. Response reveals the significant policy was announced at a private meeting, with no press notice issued #incoming-2072760" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">whatdotheyknow.com/request/exting…

I don’t think we should have this cut-off by which rights of way need to be registered. Landowners benefit & it’s bad for the public at large. If it’s going to happen though cllrs should get officers making registrations rather than relying on volunteers. amp.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2…

The force are not effectively advertising @CrimestoppersUK via their use of the logo in this way. The service, and its independence, isn’t explained or effectively pointed to. Other forces also promote @CrimestoppersUK in confusing ways but this is an egregious example.

@elonmusk Good quality reporting and useful contributions to public debate involve linking to sources. Deprioritising posts with links reduces the visibility of more valuable content.
Elon Musk@elonmusk

@paulg Just write a description in the main post and put the link in the reply. This just stops lazy linking.

There should generally be a public live stream from @Thirlwall_Inq & those reporting on proceedings should be able to share more than just short clips from open evidence sessions. All observers should have equal access & freedom to report. Openness should have a higher priority.

If proper court lists and registers were published we’d all surely find out about cases involving MPs and candidates and other public figures in a timely manner. We don’t have open justice without published court lists telling us what’s happening in our courts.

We shouldn’t deny someone a humane death just because they are under 18 or are not registered with a GP. (The proposals, which involve a bureaucracy of forms, currently exclude those under 18 or not registered with a GP). bills.parliament.uk/bills/3774

We should ensure humanity where people don’t have the capacity to decide to, or act to, end their own lives. We should take the opportunity to ensure the law doesn’t deter providing pain relief which hastens death. The law should cover withdrawing, or not providing, treatment.

When the time comes everyone should be able to have a humane death, minimising pain and suffering. I therefore support the principle of the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill and would like to see MPs vote for it at 2nd reading. MPs then need to refine it. @DanielZeichner

@markrwilliamson There was to be a £70k budget for restoration of the Richardson Candles as part of the @balfourbeatty / @CambsCC streetlight “Private Finance Initiative”. Perhaps the restoration work is underway? #AI11294" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">democracy.cambridge.gov.uk/ieListDocument…

Councillors should have set up their delegation/escalation criteria so that a case like this - where a decision was taken not to act in relation to an identified serious risk - was put before the @GreaterCambs board.

The released risk assessment indicates no intention to change the plans despite this identified risk. The designers say: "While this is an unusual arrangement for the signals it will not increase risk of conflict. Opposing turns are often positioned head-to-head at junctions"

#FOI release of risk assessment: "Increased risk of road users heading north colliding head-on with southbound vehicles waiting to turn right into Kings Hedges Road due to right turn lane being located on the western side of the central traffic island" #incoming-2091624" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">whatdotheyknow.com/request/milton…

@GreaterCambs @vidagoldstein71 @CambridgeLabour @CamSciencePark @camcycle @CambsCC Latest @GreaterCambs plans for the Milton Rd / King’s Hedges Rd / Green End Rd junction. The Milton Rd inbound right-turn lane is still on the wrong side of the island/painted chevrons which I think is surprising and therefore dangerous. greatercambridge.org.uk/asset-library/…

@GreaterCambs @CPFT_NHS @ccs_nhst If “Chesterton Medical Centre” is deemed to warrant directional signage on roads (and potentially footpaths and cycleways) it may require more than the one sign which may now emerge as a result of a series of errors. @cambscc

It appears @GreaterCambs may replace the sign with one to “Chesterton Medical Centre”. Are there enough patient appointments at the site to warrant it? Will benefits outweigh the harm of signing a “Medical Centre” with no walk-in services? @CPFT_NHS & @ccs_nhst should have input.

A new sign to a hospital which was demolished in 2003 has been installed as part of the @GreaterCambs remodelling of Milton Road in Cambridge.

@GreaterCambs Do we need signs to a hospital which was demolished in 2003? Signing the urgent care centre which was on the site of the old hospital would have been important, but that's gone now too.
