The minimum wage is meant to be the lowest wage you can live on and afford housing. So, for everyone saying "it's not meant to be that," yes, it is. That's why it's called the minimum wage.

I co-introduced historic legislation to increase the minimum wage to $25. As someone who taught economics at Stanford, here is why it makes sense. The real minimum wage was $14 in 1968. Today it is half, but productivity has increased 2.5x. Instead of extractive capitalism, we need a free enterprise system that pays workers what they are worth.

Every new car in the U.S. will be required by law to have tech that puts constant surveillance on the driver by 2027. AI in your car will determine if you're sober and fit to drive, automatically turning off the vehicle if it determines you're a danger on the road.

@James_West_PhD There are two problems. One, the interest rate for most people (not you). Two, the car itself depreciates almost immediately so that you are under water from the beginning of the loan.

Wait, what do you mean "are finding out?" It has always been like that. We need cars, but auto loans are one of the worst financial moves that you can make (although many people have no choice).

@AcePapers96261 @xwanyex 100%, I’m fully remote now. Before when I was hybrid I would have someone come by my office to talk BS for at least 30-60 minutes every day. Yet somehow taking 5 minutes to flip over the dishwasher walk my dog around the block is a crime against humanity.

@xwanyex I really think it depends. Lots of people who go into the office just gossip and bicker and chat and fuck around. They bother those of us who actually have work to be doing and prevent us from doing said work.

I’ll never stop taking victory laps about this. From the second remote work became a hot topic in 2020 I have been consistent on the view that it is impossible to believe that human beings are more productive at home.
