On this day in 1844 the world's first co-operative was formed in Rochdale. The Rochdale Society of Equitable Pioneers helped people in poverty buy food and by 1900 there were co-ops in every area of the UK. The original store in Toad Lane is now a museum run by @CoopHeritage
