@mungaikihanya Maybe their future is not as bright and they needed to 'see' them blast...who approves such stuff anyways? And someone actually lit them too? (sic)
English

@Ohta_Ryota Better still reduce the numbers. Why do we need a minor army on the tarmac every time a VIP moves five kms? This obsession with oversized, intimidating motorcades isn’t about security; it’s a feudal display of power & prestige. It creates an unsustainable operational strain

@SpryVoice ...Arsenal’s title win represents a rare, meritocratic triumph against the odds—a catharsis for a people starved of real-world victories in their own governance. It is vicarious justice, so to speak
English

@RWanjohi Also, intellectuals ask questions.
Why is Arsenal title such a cathartic moment for some? My bet is that the answer lies in our oppressive regimes. Some are also equating this with protests. I don't think anyone enjoys being pumped into their bodies.
English

Arsenal celebrations have triggered a dimension of wokeness we haven't seen before. It's all good, except it's unidirectional. It critiques and demands action from the Arsenal heathen. Except, outside pointing at the other, what has this sudden awareness that allow us to critique done in practice? Where are the examples? For 99%, absolutely nothing. Even the good General finds himself in some North American country where he is a barrister. Even beloved Amenya can only speak from the bowel of one of the worst colonial and post-colonial master.
In short, with our mouthful of sour grapes, let's all enjoy the colonial trappings and vestiges of slavery we have chosen.
English

@SpryVoice You are asking the right question, and the answer is as sobering as it is uncomfortable. Why Arsenal? Because when you live under an 'oppressive' regime that systematically robs you of agency, dignity, & predictable outcomes, the human psyche desperately looks for a proxy...

@jnyairo And just like that 50 years on, the country cannot work towards a coherent public transport system.
English

Public transport is NOT a luxury; it moves the lifeblood of Kenya's economy. We need modern termini, digitized fleet management & structural enforcement, NOT just reactionary crackdowns after a strike. It’s time to fix the system. 🇰🇪 @ntsa_kenya @StateHouseKenya #MatatuCrisis ><
English

#4 Off-peak "fill-&-go" practices leave commuters waiting indefinitely, while peak hours feature predatory, unregulated pricing. Passenger safety is being compromised as speed & reckless lane-splitting take priority over basic road etiquette to squeeze in extra laps @TransportKE
English

#3: Deficit of Designated Parking & Ranks: Decades of urban growth mean our CBDs simply can't hold volume of transit vehicles needed. Without properly designed, multi-tier termini, matatus have no choice but to overflow onto sidewalks & public spaces, creating permanent gridlock
English

#2: Chaos of Pick-up & Drop-off: Major arterial routes & intersections have turned into lawless loading zones. PSVs are blocking lanes, stopping right under footbridges & dropping passengers in middle of active traffic because designated stages are either non-existent or overrun
English

#1: Passenger Capacity- There's been a blatant disregard for legal capacity limits. Commuters packed like sardines just so operators can maximize margins on a single trip."Mshikaki" styling is back in full force. We need strict enforcement of legal passenger limits @NPSOfficial_KE
English

Those are the issues the PSVs should be addressing not running around masquerading they're concerned about passengers. Theirs is a duty to the public services users
BRAVIN YURI@BravinYuri
There is a huge bedbug issue in this city. PSVs have so many of them in their seats.
English

@Askumo254 Wondering if they can do the same to the area around Nyayo Stadium now that they're working on the pavements & area around it prepping for AFCON?
English

cc @dnahinga this is for you...
Tope Dada@TopeDada17
I wonder why we stopped being intentional about the way our backyards are designed

@wmnjoya True true, Kenyan citizenry have become social experiments for way too long. Will this be the trend in days to come as we prep for '27?
English

My cousin told me two days ago that the strike won't happen. She was right.
I actually suspected from the beginning the strike was a set up. It was staged as a vent to deflate our frustrations with fuel prices. Since when have Matatu owners cared for passengers? If it wasn't for their lobbying, we would probably have a mass transit system by now. They released the vent, now the steam with which Kenyans could have protested against the fuel prices is gone.
It's called catharsis, a term which many of us don't know because we believed literature is irrelevant to the market, and which most of your children will never hear about because literature is now a pathway.
NTV Kenya@ntvkenya
Albert Karagacha, President - Matatu Owners Association: Ruto’s Singapore dream is a reality. Let’s put politics aside and build our country. We have called off next week’s matatu strike.
English

@quincygitahi As regular users of the said PSVs, we only wish the same energy was directed towards the safety of the passengers (re-safety belts, spaced seating and no standing). Regular cleaning and fumigation would be handy too. Add better parking spaces in & around the CBD cc @CCNairobi
English

@ignyharaz2 Help me understand, these houses will have children and young adults. Where are the green spaces for play and rest? This obsession with skyscrapers is NOT development by any other name. Social halls, playing fields and similar amenities ought to be integrated
English

This is Nairobi's Shauri Moyo Affordable Housing Project.
Following an order from H.E. President William Samoei Ruto in March 2026, it will be renamed Johana Ng'eno Boma Yangu Estate in honour of the late Hon. Johana Ng'eno, the former Emurua Dikirr MP and Chairperson of the National Assembly Departmental Committee on Housing, Urban Planning, and Public Works.
There are 1,848 dwelling units in Phase A, which are divided into 12 blocks of 14 stories each.
Currently under construction, the Shauri Moyo B development will provide 4,566 mixed-use residential units aimed at a variety of socioeconomic strata.
According to PS Raymond Omollo.
