Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay met with Grandmaster R. Praggnanandhaa at the Secretariat in Chennai to congratulate him on his historic victory at the Norway Chess Tournament. During the meeting, the CM and the chess prodigy engaged in an informal chess match to celebrate the historic title win.

A humble symphony to the world in the title of “New Beginnings” which is Symphony No. 1. of mine.. With the Universe’s blessings, and as per facts and data, I’m humbled to be recognised as the youngest Indian and Asian composer to compose and record an original symphony. This symphony of ours has been played and recorded by one of the world’s greatest orchestras, the London Symphony Orchestra, conducted by the legendary Matt Dunkley. The official Audio Launch & Premiere is happening on June 21st, World Music Day, 4 PM onwards, at The Music Academy, Chennai. The playing reminds me of a portion from T. Janakiraman's short story Isai Payirchi சென்னையில் ஜார்ஜ் டவுனில் பன்னிரண்டு குடிகளுக்கு நடுவில் ஒரு குடியாக, கீழே சமையலறையும் மாடியில் படுக்கையறையுமாகக் குடித்தனம் செய்த காலத்தில் இரவு ஒரு மணி இரண்டு மணிக்கு ஒரு பயல் பாடிக்கொண்டு போவான். அவன் ஒரு மோட்டார் கார் க்ளீனர். கிட்டப்பா, ராஜரத்னம், பாகவதர் என்று நாடக சினிமாப் பாட்டுக்கள், ராகங்களையெல்லாம் அச்செடுத்துப் பாடுவான். குரலில் ஒரு கம்மல்__அவர் பொறாமைப் படுகிற தெளிவு, புரளல், ரதைகள், அன்றுதான் ஒன்று புலப்பட்டது__பிறவி வேறு, பயிற்சி வேறு என்று. சபைகளிலும் சங்கீத உலகிலும் முதல் பீடங்களில் உட்கார்ந்திருப்பவர்கள் எல்லாம் முக்காலே மூன்றுவீசம் பயிற்சி பயின்றவர்கள், பாடப்பிறந்தவர்கள் இல்லை என்று அப்பொழுது என்னமோ தோன்றிற்று.

I don't remember the last time any Tamizh reality show perform Nee Pournami. IMHO, though Ananda Ragam's arrangement rocks , Nee Pournami's melody slaps. As always, Composer Sharreth gets every intricacy right. Also, that male singer can win a Dasettan impersonator challenge!
