@haagch42 My quotation was more about the Linux XR ecosystem. Are there working XR runtime for Linux? Just out of curiosity. I 100% agree with you on web standards.

@RaananW I don't really understand the question. It's supposed to be a webstandard, so you should be able to put on your vr headset, go to a WebXR website and use the website in XR no matter what platform you're on.

As long as #WebXR is not supported on all mobile devices (and/or their OS) it will stay a niche-standard that can't be used in production. Shame.

@haagch42 I totally agree. I really don't mean that as a sarcastic question (really), but apart from development (which is a good enough reason), is there any other use for WebXR on Linux?

@RaananW People always complain about apple but to me the fact that browsers won't implement WebXR on Linux where there are zero barriers says all about how serious of a cross platform standard it is.

@mrmaxm You keep on saying niche applications. Let's say they are. The capabilities are available. It's all a matter of exposing them. Or allowing other browsers to do so. But they are blocking it. I wonder why. Let the problem be the UX. Let the users choose.

@RaananW Yep, we are always waiting for that company to implement web standards like everyone else. Mobile AR does not bring enough benefit to justify added friction on UX due to physical device constraints. And with novelty/niche application business rarely has a case for it.

@mrmaxm The company that refuses to implement WebXR is a UX expert. The defined a lot of "standards" that we all use. We can get there, but need everyone on board. And I totally agree on the wearables. Handheld devices will be gone soon enough, but they can still be used already for AR

@RaananW I believe AR will really take off in the glasses form factor, not phones. Also, due to niche tech, there is no common UX that users are used to. So the interactions with AR today have too much friction.

@mrmaxm We can agree to disagree here 😊 I think the reason AR is not used is exactly because of the fact that you need an app for it. Your day to day mobile usage will benefit a lot from web-enabled AR sessions. But it will never be thing as long as the status quo is kept.

@RaananW AR content has pretty limited use cases, some in e-commerce and very niche in gaming, and few edge cases. But technical expertise required for execution is way too high, especially on mobile chipsets. That is why even native AR experiences are a very few.

@mrmaxm Immersive AR sessions are, IMO, the biggest selling point for WebXR. Amazing capabilities and never ending use cases. And the best thing - you already have a supported device in your hand (and soon you will wear it). Except for iOS users. VR is awesome, and has solvable problems

@RaananW For mobile AR, yes. For VR, it is supported by the vast majority of devices market share. The problem is within the higher difficulty of development for mobile chipsets, XR UX, and most importantly: web. It has to be a couple of megs and highly optimized. Mobilization also.

@limes2018 似たようなノード系のエディタの機能として、 ・Render Graph ・Flow Graph と言うのが開発中のようです。UEのblueprintに相当するのがFlow Graphと思います。楽しみですね。 scrapbox.io/babylonjs/%E3%…

Sharing a bright spot from today: 9 months ago I started my #crossfit journey because I simply had to start moving more. Today I participated in my first #crossfitopen2025 (day 1) and so far I'm really happy with my result 😊 Stay active!
