Trump walked in on May 1st.. endorsed Andy Barr.. offered the only real rival an ambassadorship.. and the rival dropped out the same week.. > Cameron — the man who was supposed to carry McConnell's network forward — entered with a polling lead.. raised money.. had the name recognition.. had the Christian conservative base.. > Barr had none of that early.. until Trump made one phone call and one diplomatic offer.. > Cameron finished at 30%.. Barr won with 60%.. > the seat McConnell held since 1984 flipped to a Trump loyalist in a single primary night.. > the first open Kentucky Senate seat in 42 years.. decided by an endorsement and an ambassadorship.. every single establishment figure watching this tonight told their donors "the McConnell network is durable".. every single one assumed the old machine had enough infrastructure to survive his retirement.. it didn't survive a single election cycle.. not a scandal.. not a Democrat.. not a generational shift.. one endorsement.. one ambassadorship offer.. and 41 years of political infrastructure collapsed in an evening.. the quiet part nobody is saying out loud.. Trump didn't just win a primary tonight.. he erased the last internal friction point inside the Senate Republican caucus without a single floor vote.. it's only getting quieter from here.. Last night, as we ushered in 2026, many of us thought, what will the year ahead bring? In this light, the quote, “The best way to predict the future is to create it” (Peter Drucker), seems especially appropriate. Thus, instead of asking what our future holds, let us create it.

As we move into a new week, it is worth pausing to remember that our social responsibility does not pause with the calendar. While many of us have had the privilege of full tables and stability, there are still individuals and families in our community who continue to face food insecurity every day. The Torah reminds us, “You shall open your hand to your brother…” (Deuteronomy 15:11). Caring for those in need is an ongoing obligation, not a seasonal one. Supporting organizations such as the Tarrant Area Food Bank, with which I am blessed to be associated, and similar organizations is a concrete way to turn values into action and to ensure that no one is forgotten when attention shifts elsewhere. May this Sunday motivate us to act with compassion, responsibility, and a lasting commitment to the wellbeing of our wider community. L

Wishing everyone a Shabbat and weekend filled with spirituality and light. Although the holidays are behind us, let us always continue to bring God’s light into our world through the performance of mitzvoth and acts of loving kindness. As Rabbi Jonathan Sacks taught, “Faith is not a light that shows us the future, but a lamp that illuminates the next step.”

As we reflect today on the Second Vatican Council, which concluded on this day in 1965, we remember a transformative moment in modern religious history. On a personal note, I feel a deep sense of gratitude for the strong relationships I have been blessed to share here in Fort Worth. The previous Bishop, Kevin Vann, and the current Bishop, Michael Olson, have embodied the very spirit of Vatican II through their friendship, moral leadership, and genuine commitment to interfaith respect. Bishop Olson in particular has been and continues to be a true friend and supporter of myself, the Jewish community, and the State of Israel.
