Good thread on the real lesson of the Kamtza/Bar Kamtza story. Rav Matisyahu Solomon of Lakewood said If someone cuts you off you have a right to be angry. Shooting them in response is Sinat Chinam. Chinam also means “open-ended”, hatred with no boundaries leads to destruction.

I've been thinking a lot about "sinat hinam." It's always bugged me. First because hatred is rarely baseless. It's more often a resentment and anger that flows from needless but real injury. Nobody thinks their anger is baseless. Usually it's thrown around as an accusation. 1/

@plindseyusa @politicalelle I hope this would force "the best" universities to have a tiered tuition system based on income. I don't think they would want to be seen as excluding all lower-income applicants

Federal loans to cover college tuition are what allows colleges to hike up tuition. End federal education loans. There would be lots of hollering, but if you think $70K per year for college is absurd, it’s because it is. End this farce.

@LHSummers Why isn't the government focused on tying student loans to college affordability? Any college that is eligible for student loans should need to demonstrate they are fiscally responsible or the cycle of high tuition will never end

I hope the Administration does not contribute to inflation macro economically by offering unreasonably generous student loan relief or micro economically by encouraging college tuition increases.

@sullydish As a Rabbi in San Francisco in 2011 a circumcision ban qualified for a ballot initiative, but it was found unconstitional. Interestingly the push was from far left who were against making physical changes to children who were too young to consent.

I wonder how many people who oppose child sex changes also oppose circumcision. Similar principle of the bodily integrity of children, especially their sex organs.
