@jarredsumner Many companies choose to self-host their mail servers - not only for better privacy, but also to reduce operational costs. When adding support for sending emails, implementing SMTP should be the top priority, as it's the standard protocol for email delivery.

the tricky thing is it seems like nowadays you probably don’t want to use smtp and instead want to use the vendor-specific http api. it might make more sense for an api like this to be an adapter wrapping fetch() for like 10 different APIs as plugins

While it's understandable to have concerns, good password managers are designed with robust security measures, such as zero-trust architecture. Even if the server is compromised, attackers shouldn't decrypt passwords without individual master passwords. It's a step above simply storing passwors in a Google Doc, providing an extra layer of protection. 🔒 #PasswordSecurity

@Pilgrim0007 @soychotic I mean it's 'safe' in that it's safer than using the same password for literally every single account. A password manager is safer, but honestly a password manager is just a fancy Google Doc for your passwords.

The safest password management system is just making a different really long password for every new account, storing it nowhere, forgetting it completely, and then resetting your password every time you sign in

@StaffordHackz Mandatory password expiration can have both pros and cons. While it aims to enhance security, some argue it may lead to weaker passwords as users opt for simpler, more easily memorable ones. Striking the right balance is key! 🔐 #PasswordSecurity

What API client do you use? I'm looking for a simpler / minimal alternative to Postman.

Exciting Web Privacy News The Web is undergoing a significant advance in privacy at the moment. In recent weeks, the Chrome browser enabled cross-site storage partitioning. That is: many features in Chrome that used to leak data between websites, no longer leak. In Chrome 117, our "State Partitioning test" results (see the table) indicate that 11 browser features no longer leak across sites! Because several popular browsers are based on Chromium, including Edge, Opera, and Vivaldi, I expect this protection will shortly be enabled in those browsers as well. And because other browsers (including Brave, Firefox, Safari and Tor) have previously fixed these leaks, these protections will soon be universal for all Web users. (Current results for a range of browsers are at PrivacyTests.org) What features are left that still need to be partitioned? In Chrome, it's the Blob API, the HSTS cache, and most important of all, third-party cookies. Chrome should fix these leaks as quickly as possible. Congratulations to the Chrome team for making this major step forward! Here's hoping that browser teams will continue to make major progress in fixing other privacy flaws, including by expanding protections against fingerprinting, query parameter tracking, and IP address logging. We'll be watching. ✅❌
