He is serving a 20-year sentence for manslaughter for the June 2014 bludgeoning murder of his then-girlfriend, 24 year old Samantha Lee Brown, as well as an additional 15 years for a violent first degree assault on an inmate in July 2014, as well as a count of manufacturing meth. According to @Slatzism of @reduxx, "Brown's cause of death is listed as blunt force trauma to the head, and she was survived by four young children." Per @EastOregonian reporter Phil Wright, "Umatilla County chief deputy prosecutor Richard Bunney said her death has been hard on her parents, and the eldest of her four children is 6 [at the time of Samantha's murder] and struggles with what happened to his mother." The inmate he assaulted required 39 staples to close wounds, and it was reported he used a broken and sharpened broom handle in the attack. Video footage showed him celebrating the attack afterwards. He took a plea deal to avoid murder and attempted murder convictions, which could've meant a life sentence without parole.
