I express my profound closeness to the Palestinian people in Gaza, who continue to live in fear and to survive in unacceptable conditions, forced once again from their own lands. Before Almighty God, who commanded “Thou shalt not kill,” and throughout human history, every person always has an inviolable dignity, to be respected and upheld. I renew my appeal for a ceasefire, the release of hostages, and a negotiated diplomatic solution, in full respect of international humanitarian law. I invite everyone to join my heartfelt prayer that a dawn of peace and justice may soon arise.

@DanMcGowan I don’t know Dan- it’s my job to put forward the best option I can and then listen. My neighbors opposed this - nearly 150 residents contacted me since - politicians don’t change their mind publicly because folks are unwilling to admit their way might not be the only way.

For those not getting it: As crazy as it sounds, my tweet represents a fair summation of the theory of power, that - after years of ostensible study of why more things don't get built faster - @ezraklein offered to Jon Stewart re: how the convoluted regs in the rural broadband program came to be. (More on that in my next tweet.) Rather, the ISPs worked through Rs and conservative Ds to try to make that program unworkable — just as the fossil fuel industry is doing with renewables here. When you write corporate power out of your narrative you: 1- Offer a framework that makes it more likely that you're going to lose elections 2- Point at actors who are not the primary reason things function suboptimally in most cases 3- Get promoted a ton by the mainstream corporate media and corporate-aligned funders

The new Senate draft raises taxes on all wind and solar projects that haven't begun construction today unless they are placed service by end of 2027 and navigate complex, likely unworkable requirements to prove they don't use a drop of Chinese materials. After that, this bill ADDS A NEW tax on wind and solar projects that can't prove the same.

Due process, equal protection, and freedom from unlawful searches, apply to all people, not just U.S. citizens.
