Dems are not obliged to bail out Republicans when the MAGA monster they created comes for them. The idea is absurd. It presumes Republicans can't be asked to take responsibility for the messes they've made with their own malignant bad acting. Free link: wapo.st/3PLxSPY

> @SpeakerMcCarthy emerged from House GOP conference meeting and talked to the press. Here's what KM said: "I truly believe, though, the institution of the House, at the end of the day, if you throw a speaker out that has 99% of their conference, that kept government and paid the troops, I think we're in a really bad place for how we're going to run Congress."

Can’t believe the creators of the monster have lost control of the monster, is there any precedent for this in books or film

Remember, Democrats may say they want more responsible Republican leadership, but they will side against that every chance they get - and then complain if anyone tries to hold them responsible for their own choices.

Unbelievable. The Democrats, with the help of Matt Gaetz and a handful of GOP Members, just ousted the Republican Speaker of the House. What a mess. This is so foolish. Why would anyone want to be Speaker of the House.

Question of the day is how many Democrats can see past their hatred of McCarthy to recognize how bad a precedent this would be - and how things get no better for them under the next person.

The @nytimes emotively captions this photo: "A diary left behind by a child in an abandoned Palestinian village." We asked a native Arabic speaker to take a look. The writing is actually that of a teenager in love, not a child. This is a deliberate misuse of a photo caption in order to create a false association with alleged Israeli mistreatment of Palestinian children. nytimes.com/2023/10/03/wor…
