Oh, and my maintenance calories are high because I'm ACTIVE.
My NEAT (non exercise activity thermogenesis) is high.
I'm not the typical gym-goer (train for 30-45 minutes per day) and then spend the rest of my day sitting.
I'll train for 1 hour per day and then I'm on my feet with my kids playing with them. Go for walks and hikes. Doing all the daily living activities to maintain a household - yardwork, laundry, cleaning etc.
WellBuiltStyle@WellBuiltStyle
A 1500 calorie meal is nothing for me. Even when I'm eating whole foods. I typically only eat a couple times a day and my maintenance is around 3300-3600 calories.
English

@WellBuiltStyle @MistaPeace You eat it all at once?? That's like 1500 calories!
English

@MistaPeace I do this overnight and eat it all the next morning. But you can stock these in the fridge for around 3-5 days. I usually do my meal prep on Sunday and have these good for Monday-Friday.

@WellBuiltStyle Any recommendations on a linen suit for summer?
English

@tannerguzy Because she behaved exactly as the data said she would but stated the exact opposite of the data?
English

@WellBuiltStyle All your posts about fiber and salads have helped me get more creative with my healthy eating and up my fiber intake. Thanks!

@WellBuiltStyle @morganhousel Amen. I have two young adult kids married within the last year and it seems impossible for them to afford housing as a couple much less but a place where they can have kids.
English

I think @morganhousel is on the money here. 👇
Build more housing. Especially townhouses/rowhouses/smaller multi-unit complexes.
I'm starting to see it in my neighborhood. Older, single family homes being torn down and townhouses/multi-unit residences going up in their place. Creating more density in established neighborhoods.

@jlinehan9 I don't work in finance but have been considering paying for Claude. How have you been using it?
English

@CougarStats It's clear at this point in the season we are mediocre (in big 12 terms) and have very low chances of winning either of those games.
English

@CougarStats He's so tall and tends to play upright so it always looks like he's grabbing the face mask when he isn't.
English

@LOBig12 It's been hard to find people who work for the conference who stand up for the conference

BRETT! NO! STOP DISSING BYU! STOP!
Sports Business Journal@SBJ
Brett Yormark said on stage at IAF that he thinks the CFP got it right. "Was I happy about BYU, no...but I think overall they did the right job. Listen, it's progress over perfection." He also called out Notre Dame AD Pete Bevacqua: "I think his behavior has been egregious."

If you're going to penalize a 1-loss Power Conference team for a weak strength of schedule... BYU's SOS is better than Ole Miss and Notre Dame.
If you're going to penalize a team for not having the strongest power ratings (which incorporate prior year's history and recruiting rankings)... BYU's FPI is higher than Oklahoma's.
If you're going to penalize a team for a non-competitive / bad loss... Alabama lost by 14 to a team with a losing record and Miami lost to two unranked teams.
If you're going to use strength-of-record like you indicated you would, BYU's SOR is the second highest of teams 6-12.
BYU also (1) made its conference championship game and (2) if you sum up the wins of the teams it has beaten, it is THIRD in the country. It is hard to win games and BYU has beaten a lot of teams with a lot of wins.
This. Makes. No. Sense.
The @CFBPlayoff should be ashamed of itself. It has literally contorted itself into a pretzel to avoid putting BYU where it should be ranked (somewhere between 6th - 9th).
RT to get the info out there. They need to feel pressure.

@Mitch_Harper @ESPNEventsInv Happy Thanksgiving! Hope you are enjoying Disney World and thanks for all the great BYU coverage!

Hey y’all, my name is Eric! I’m 47 y/o, 370lbs. I’ve been lifting for 40 days now. Currently running the Starting Strength NLP.
Today I deadlifted 245lbs. I’ve been working hard on my form. Making sure to “catch water” with my back instead of rounding. My grip is getting better each workout.
Being severely obese has its limitations but I’m not using that as an excuse, gotta get better! 😤💪🏻🔥

@anymanfitness Amen to everything you said. I can hardly believe this lady's post is real but trading lifelong love and relationships for coffee breaks and candles is incomprehensible to me.
English

As a parent, there are some times when you question your decision.
When you get barfed on at 2 am.
When you get zero sleep and have to go to work the next day.
When your kid throws a tantrum every time they walk into Target.
But if you do it right, you'll make it through the gauntlet.
Your children will mature before your very eyes. You'll reclaim your mornings (and they'll sleep in, too). You can even go to brunch if you want (shocker).
Watching them grow will be your new favorite past time, though.
You'll watch them excel in school and extra curriculars.
You'll watch them become functioning adults, carrying on your blood line, and making you prouder than you've ever been of anything in your life.
One day, they'll have careers of their own. Families of their own. They'll fill your house with love. They'll continue your legacy.
And all this lady will have is a cat and empty wine bottles.
Hazel Appleyard@HazelAppleyard
When you watch stuff like this as a parent, you realise how truly empty and meaningless all of those things are.

@hankrsmith Lol I've heard you say this before and I've used it ever since. Maybe "Twaching in the way the Savior wants you to teach in the restored church" lol
English

@jlinehan9 Explain to us with your expertise how he fumbled that? And why isn't Sam in there? Is he injured?
English

@LOBig12 Not sure if you are familiar with temple rolls in the lds church but I will put you and your family on our temple roll here and that means everyone in the temple will pray over your family. I am also fasting for a friend and will include you in those prayers.

@TheDadAesthetic Dude when we do Disney we get 25-30k steps a day. You're doing that at home? That's crazy. Similarly, my wife and I went to Italy on an anniversary trip and ate all the pasta, pizza and Gelato we wanted but I came home 1lb lighter.
English

It takes effort to gain weight. I just spent a week in Disney eating nothing but theme park and hotel food. Didn’t lift once. Step count was same or lower than a normal week at home (Disney “all the walking” isn’t much when you’re active). I didn’t track cals, I ate dirty food, had drinks/desserts - basically “vacation mode.” Result? I lost 7 pounds.
Context: before the trip I was bulking at just over 4,000 calories a day. I tried to eat a lot on vacation to keep pace, but without my normal food/kitchen it was tough. That 7 pounds wasn’t all fat loss - it was glycogen + water + less food volume + digestion changes. When you pull carbs down suddenly (no more measured rice, oats, pasta, etc.) you dump water, lose glycogen stores, and your gut isn’t carrying around the same food weight.
Conversely, to gain 7 pounds of fat I would’ve had to eat roughly 24,000 calories over my already high daily burn. That’s not just a few churros and beers. That’s deliberate, relentless eating in the face of fullness and discomfort - day after day.
So when someone is carrying 50, 100, 150 extra pounds, it wasn’t an accident. It's repeated effort in the wrong direction. Because if a week of hammering food at Disney couldn’t even hold my weight, it shows you just how much work it actually takes to truly pile on fat.
