@methdeatal_ From the drawing, it appears to be a magnetic mount CB Radio or Amateur (ham) Radio antenna. It is placed in a spot for best omni-directional performance.

@luellak167687_k @TruckerDanUSA There are a lot of people on the CB Radio. Many truckers still use them. Get an inexpensive unit (not many bells & whistles) and you might find it worthwhile and even fun. I've been on the CB Radio since 1964 and still going! Skimping on the antenna will bring disappointment!!!

Serious question. I’ve been thinking about adding a cab radio in my van I use for road shows to stay informed and maybe just shoot the shit while driving. Do people still use them or is it gonna be a waste of money? I know my step dad used his but it’s been 20 years

Do you remember the "He Ain't Here" bar in Wichita Falls? Phone rings, bartender picks up and says, "He ain't here". I don't remember if it was in that cluster of bars near Iowa Park Road and Sheppard Access Road, or on North Scott near the river. Either way, he wasn't there.

@Velanovivita When they closed the bridge and removed the northbound span that sat to the left of the one in the pic, I think they made the southbound span a pedestrian bridge. I drove a medium-size truck across it in 1968-9 and surely it was more robust than this!

On the Amateur (ham) Radio Parks on the Air® spotter page, I see Wilbur Wright State Fish and Wildlife Area. Do they feature flying fish exclusively? Asking for a friend. Anyway, the station operating there is a little too weak to work at the moment. I'll check again later.

I have to laugh about these local "journalist" types around here. Most are from northern states. They wail away about global warming whenever the temperature gets above 75. It's South Carolina, folks. Believe it or not, it's always warm here compared to Minnesota or wherever.
