A step in the right direction for charter school facilities funding. SB 498 passed the Senate (49-3) with broad bipartisan support, across the ideological spectrum. On to the House for consideration. #gapol

It’s always a good Crossover Day when good legislation like SB 498 gets a bi-partisan vote count like this! Thank you, @VoteClintDixon and @LtGovJonesGA for your support on this bill to ensure charter schools spend more money on kids and less on buildings! @GACharters

Excited to launch the Voters and Scholars initiative. Super voter parents and charter school students who are committed to advocate, engage and VOTE for their interests. Candidate qualifying next week. #gapol

As 100s gathered under the Gold Dome yesterday to ask for increased support for charter school facilities, our VP of Policy and Advocacy @RahnMayo had this to say: "Charter schools serve over 65,000 students in Georgia and we're going to continue to fight for their interests."

Honored to support State leaders, Speaker and Mrs. Burns, in this literacy initiative. Part of the plan includes identifying the most effective reading teachers throughout Georgia. #gapol

Reading is the foundation of opportunity. GCSA appreciates Speaker @JonBurnsGA and Mrs. Dayle Burns for hosting Literacy Night at the Capitol and for their commitment to empowering parents and educators who help Georgia’s students succeed in the classroom and beyond.

If a child starts behind in reading, the odds of catching up fall fast: • 49% in kindergarten • 29% in first grade • 18% in second • 5% in third We don’t have a third-grade reading crisis. We have an early learning problem. Great take, @ChadAldeman. chadaldeman.com/p/do-not-wait

‘Clean Continuing Resolution’ is oxymoronic.

The federal government shutdown is outrageous! A continuing resolution is a stopgap, not a solution — useful to avoid shutdowns, but poor for long-term governance. Congress should pass a budget and not another quick fix.
