Our freedom is not free, something we should all reflect on this Memorial Day. Today we remember our service members who gave their lives for that freedom and our Gold Star Families as we pray for those who continue to serve.

In honor of the men and women who have given their lives to preserve our nation and the freedoms we should never take for granted, flags across the State of Georgia will be lowered on Monday for Memorial Day.

This morning, we hosted the annual Memorial Day Ceremony at the State Capitol. As we go into this weekend, I’m asking all Georgians to remember why we have the freedoms we do, and to pray for those who have lost a loved one in service to this great nation. Keep our Gold Star Families in your hearts and minds on this holiday.
