2016 - 2020, but again observing Texas Tech football since 2001. I feel like a lot of the fan experience has been stripped away by the corporatization. Even the endgame experience felt less cheesy and inundated with ads. I can’t get with a McDonald’s sponsored reader power chat. I really wish the guy go to Campbell. Could just approach Tech and say hey I’m gonna cut you one check for every bit of sponsorship and advertisement you normally receive, an exchange for a cleansed, authentic college football game experience.

Texas Tech’s west side is one of the most beautiful stadium facades in college football, which is why I’ve always felt the massive parking lot in front of it takes away from the aesthetic of the building itself. Separately, I also think the game day atmosphere has suffered some as tailgating has gradually been pushed farther away from the stadium. I understand the importance of donor spaces, but I’d love to see more of the surrounding green space and parking areas transformed into a true tailgating district with more greenery, walkable gathering spaces, live music, and first-come, first-serve tailgating closer to the stadium again. The stadium already has a great identity. The atmosphere around it should match it.

My handle says 1989, but that’s just to play into the Darius Rucker bit. My dad has been taking me since I was four years old starting around 2001. So I grew up tailgating on the east side, and watched the tailgating get destroyed by the stadium renovations. It was magnificent back then, and that’s why I’m saying we’re lacking something now.

The AI took quite a bit of liberty and filling up the spaces. I’m not saying it’s got to be dismantled as a parking lot, but we could definitely spruce it up, and expand into the green space for an actual tailgating environment. Also, the other main point is just that we need to have a first come first serve Tailgate area that is large to consolidate the many tailgates across campus.

@RaideriusRed Agree with this take for the 7 Saturdays in the fall it makes sense. Unfortunately it’s used for student parking a couple hundred days a year

@CoyoteRaider That would be great. We have a lot of tailgaters all across the campus and student housing. You’d never know it by how for apart everyone else. We could have a real scene if it was done right.

@RaideriusRed This is correct. Have to make a way for the public Raider Alley concerts to be connected to the student tailgating, everyone should be in the same spot like the grove in Oxford

I hope so. You’d think the admin’s philosophy has changed, but we’ve had so many unthinkable games scheduled with the current one it concerns that how they like it. Why did we ever go to Wyoming. Lose lose. No one respects the win if you get it and it’s tough place to win. Same with the Colorado State game.

@RaideriusRed We will have something similar. This time last year they hadn’t announced that game yet.

@CoyoteRaider Totally fair. I know many of the games are Sceduled way out. However, there have been games Sceduled in the short term too. BYU and ND only had 1 year of lead time.

@RaideriusRed Scheduling is done like 10-15 years in advance. We are playing the cards dealt from 2015. Patience… We will announce a p4 opponent for 27 soon. The success of now will be shown in future scheduling
